Reviews
Review 1: “My friends got me a $300 USD ukulele for Christmas, and I hadn’t learned it yet. I was browsing for ukulele apps and found Kala. I was excited because my ukulele is also a Kala brand. After opening the app, I found lots of songs to play along with—though some are part of the ‘full access’ package. Since I didn’t know any chords or notes, I watched the videos that teach finger placement for different chords. Once I learned enough, I played a bunch of songs, and on the very first day I could play ‘Lavenders Blue.’ I ended up playing for three straight hours—seriously. I knew I needed to buy full access, and I’m still really happy I found it. My progress has been huge, so thanks to whoever created this app. I’ve seen other reviews saying it’s bad and giving it 1 star, but I strongly disagree. It gave me a great head start, and after three weeks I’m still using it with no plans to stop.”

Review 2: “I tried the app a bit, and unfortunately it doesn’t start you at your current level. It makes you begin from the very beginning, with a lot of basic videos and songs that feel too elementary, which wasted my time. Also, when you play songs, it seems to require headphones so the app can detect whether you’re playing the correct chords. My headphones are Apple earbuds with a built-in microphone, but it doesn’t pick up the ukulele well because the microphone isn’t positioned in front of the instrument—it’s on my body. So no matter what I do, it says I’m not playing the chords, even though I clearly am. I’ve played guitar for about 20 years, and an injury is why I’m learning ukulele now…”
