Durango Introduction

Durango Durango is a prehistoric survival MMO where you explore, gather resources, craft gear, and build defenses. Play solo or team up to hunt and tame dinosaurs as mounts and protect your community.

Durango

Durango is a prehistoric MMO set in a world of dinosaurs. Survival is only half the challenge—players must also explore, gather resources, and build their town from the ground up. You can play solo or team up with others, assigning roles, crafting tools and weapons, constructing defensive buildings, and capturing dinosaurs to tame them as mounts. With the right approach, you can turn the ancient land to your advantage and dominate this era. Players can also invite friends at any time to form a community, defending together from dinosaur attacks and threats posed by other players.

Key Features

Durango

Durango is an upcoming mobile survival MMO that drops you into the prehistoric age through a time warp. You’ll explore a rich 2.5D world with presentation and gameplay systems designed to go beyond what’s typical for mobile titles. Join forces with other players to create villages and push back carnivorous dinosaur attacks as a community.

Its developers describe the project as a “Pioneering Open World MMORPG”, highlighting two core ideas: sandbox-style exploration and the ability to build towns from scratch. Gather materials from across the world to craft everything from tools and fortifications to clothing and meals. You can also hunt, capture, and tame dinosaurs—then use them to ride and support your community-building efforts.

Useful Tips for New Players

After nearly two years of open beta testing, Nexon is rolling out Durango: Wild Lands to global players. Today is the first day it’s available in North America.

The journey begins with a normal train ride, but a time warp quickly replaces it with an alternate universe. In that world, you must survive side by side with dinosaurs. It’s packed with interesting ideas, but some parts aren’t obvious at first—so here are several tips to help you get started.

Choose Your Starting Specialization

Your first big choice is which skill you want to specialize in at the beginning. This isn’t a permanent lock-in, because skill levels are capped relative to your character level. Whatever you pick will remain at level 20 until your character reaches level 21, at which point many of your other skills will be able to catch up.

That said, not every specialization is equally efficient. If you want the quickest early advantage, consider weapon/tool specialization. Better weapons can noticeably improve combat performance compared with melee-only choices, and improved tools help you gather stronger resources. This route can also help you craft a bow earlier, letting you start building your ranged skill sooner.

If you’re already comfortable with survival games and want a longer-term challenge, construction is another option. It won’t magically make the game easier, but it’s often the hardest skill to raise early on—so it can be a smart pick if you’re aiming for a tougher, more rewarding progression path.

Expect a Longer Tutorial

After picking your specialization and your character’s appearance, the game leads you through a tutorial with several key moments. You’ll fight a raptor while you’re still on the train, then be revived by a character named K, who has the face of a 12-year-old girl. From there, you’ll complete a series of tasks assigned by K while she travels around the area on a motorcycle.

Your Starting Island: Plan Carefully

The tutorial wraps up when you board K’s hot air balloon and float to the island that becomes your new home.

  • You can’t build on the blue river or brown rock zones, so avoid those areas when selecting a location.
  • If you want a cool port, consider an island choice near the dock.
  • If your goal is a more symmetrical layout, you’ll generally be better off choosing a spot where you can create a large square using your maximum of 50 domain spots.

  • Resources on your main island do not regenerate, so don’t choose purely based on resource abundance.

Finally, even though you can warp to the dock from anywhere on your island, you should still be mindful of waypoints. Early on, you may be able to return to your base using the “to waypoint” option in the map screen—but if you change your waypoint during exploration, your return routing may require extra effort.
