FateGrand Order Introduction

FateGrand Order Fate/Grand Order is a card-based turn RPG where you summon Servants to battle fate. Explore time-travel missions, plan three-action turns, and combine abilities for powerful attacks.

Fate/Grand Order

Fate/Grand Order is a card-based role-playing game where you step into the role of a hero, summoning Servants to fight against an unstoppable fate. With a huge roster of Servants—each one defined by distinct skills, strengths, and weaknesses—you can summon freely and arrange them into your ideal squad for battle.

The game uses turn-based combat. On each turn, you get three actions, and your goal is to combine them smartly so your characters’ abilities work together. Coordinate your Servants to unleash devastating attacks. Keep in mind: in this world, victory depends more on team coordination than on individual heroics.

Background

In 2017, Earth still seems peaceful. But a hidden organization—Chaldea—believes that other worlds may suffer the same fate. To prevent disaster, Chaldea is formed to carry out secret missions and monitor Earth’s future.

Chaldea’s special members track early signs, only to learn that human history will end in 2019, just two years later. No one can explain why it will happen—or what person, organization, or method will be responsible for stopping it.

In a desperate attempt to uncover the cause of this impending catastrophe, Chaldea discovers a remote Japanese town that doesn’t appear on any observation map. The area has never been seen before, making it a mystery even to their systems.

Chaldea concludes that this hidden region is tied to humanity’s extinction, so they begin a massive operation: sending themselves back to the year 2004 to investigate.

However, time travel that changes the past is strictly forbidden. To bypass the taboo, Chaldea turns its members into spirit particles—soulless beings—so they can transfer adventurers to specific points in the past they need to study.

Armed with resolve, the brave team works together across eras, stepping into key events to find the reason behind humanity’s collapse and to destroy the related spacetime singularity.

Fate/Grand Order follows a group of largely unseen heroes who sacrifice themselves to fight against history, reshape the timeline, and battle fate in order to protect humanity’s future.

Gameplay

At the start, you choose your character’s gender and name. Once that’s set, you travel into the past and the main story begins.

Very soon, you’ll manage a special team you can directly control. These allies are called Servants, and they fight alongside you. Every Servant comes with their own skills, personality, and combat traits (including strengths and weaknesses).

Many Servants are also returning faces from earlier entries in the Fate series. Recruiting most of them is typically done through gacha. Some story-connected characters—such as Camelot or Gilgamesh—are obtainable only through summoning.

Turn-Based Combat (3 Actions per Turn)

Fate/Grand Order battles are turn-based. Each turn asks you to perform three actions. To improve your odds, you should try to combine those actions for maximum synergy between your Servants.

  • If you select three blue actions (Arts), a special effect will trigger.
  • If the same Servant attacks three times in a row, they can unleash a powerful skill.

Using coordinated attack patterns and building those synergies is essential for clearing harder fights. Also note: during each battle, you can temporarily recruit one character from other players.

Features

Command Card Battles and Class Advantages

In the English version, combat revolves around turn-based command cards that activate Quick, Arts, and Buster cards. To perform well, you’ll form teams around class advantages, including: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker.

On top of that, skills and each Servant’s Noble Phantasm give you more control over when and how you strike.

Large-Scale Serialized Story

The game features the Grand Order arc and the Lostbelt arc, released in sequence over time. To help you plan your progress, you’ll receive trailers and chapter previews. There are also character side quests that expand the lore and provide additional rewards.

Summon, Level Up, and Ascend Servants

You recruit Heroic Spirits from Fate, mythology, and history through summoning magic. As you progress, you can:

  • Level up Servants
  • Increase skill levels
  • Ascend Servants to unlock new artwork and stronger performance

Every Servant also has a distinct Noble Phantasm and a specific role in your team strategy.

Events, Collaborations, and Login Rewards

Fate/Grand Order frequently runs limited-time events and periodic summon campaigns. Seasonal activities also appear—such as special login rewards leading up to Valentine’s Day, where you can collect daily in-game items.

Collaboration events (for example, Fate/Samurai Remnant) add themed content for a limited time.

Free-to-Play Gacha with English Servers

This is a free-to-play gacha game, with an English version available. You can use the free summoning system to obtain Servants and Craft Essences through summoning.

The English servers cover North America and are available to players worldwide, letting you play on mobile while following updates to the English version.
