Information about RF Project
RF Project is a new upcoming PC-mobile cross-platform RPG developed by Netmarble. Netmarble is well known as a major Korean game publisher behind mobile titles such as Lineage 2 Revolution and Seven Knights.
In 2020, Netmarble acquired the IP rights to RF Online, and the company is now developing RF Project based on the original franchise.
Why Netmarble is making it
Netmarble N2/Netmarble N Park CEO Min-kwan Kwon shared that he wanted to bring back the series’ distinctive, appealing world for players again. He also explained that preparation work had already begun as part of the development.
What carries over from RF Online
According to Netmarble, the project will keep beloved “classic” elements from RF Online—such as the sci-fi setting, giant robots, and cool weapon designs, including Animus.
At the same time, the team plans to introduce additional features as development progresses, aiming to deliver a high-intensity battle experience that wasn’t possible in the original PC MMORPG.
What you can do (from the trailer)
In the gameplay trailer, players can experience a variety of activities, including:
- Riding giant robots
- Fighting enemies using massive, high-impact weapons
- Exploring a thrill-filled sci-fi world packed with adventure
Platforms and release status
RF Project is planned for both PC and mobile. As of now, there’s no official release date announced, and development continues under Netmarble N2.

Player Comments
Many players feel like RF Project is trying to bring the energy of old-school MMORPGs into a modern mobile-friendly format. The game blends sci-fi tech with fantasy-style combat, so you see giant armored warriors, futuristic weapons, dramatic magic-like visuals, and chaotic large-scale battles all at once.
One of the first things people notice is the scale. Maps feel large, cities are busy, and battles can quickly turn into full-on mayhem once multiple players join the fight. It creates that classic MMO vibe where the world feels active rather than empty.
Visually, it stands out for mobile: armor designs look flashy, skill effects light up the screen, and some environments feel genuinely cinematic. Character customization also seems solid—especially for players who enjoy building stylish fantasy-meets-sci-fi characters.
Combat and PvP impressions
- Fast, satisfying combat early on
- Skills chain smoothly during fights
- Large PvP battles are often seen as a major highlight
- In raids or faction battles, the game successfully makes you feel strong and impactful
Progression concerns
Like many MMORPGs, some players say the grind becomes noticeable over time. Auto-play systems may handle a lot of the workload—some players appreciate the convenience, while others feel it reduces challenge. Progression can also slow down later unless you spend significant time farming resources.
Story vs multiplayer
The story exists, but many players think the game’s real draw is the multiplayer experience—including guild wars, PvP areas, and gear upgrades, where the game seems to focus much of its energy.
Overall takeaway
Overall, players describe RF Project as a stylish MMO for those who enjoy big battles, flashy combat, and long progression. It may not completely reinvent the genre, but the blend of futuristic technology with fantasy-style warfare gives it a memorable identity.
Additional player note: One comment claims it feels similar to EA’s Anthem “in a good way,” describing it as potentially F2P with microtransactions, and hoping for a release around the end of 2022—while also noting that it should likely go through CBT first.
