CHAOS RINGS is an open-world adventure where you can freely choose from a range of distinctive characters, build your own squad, and set off on an unforgettable journey. Along the way, you’ll face all kinds of foes and monsters. To come out on top, you’ll need to understand each character’s special abilities and manage skill cooldowns effectively—so you can win battles and earn valuable rewards.

You can also strengthen your characters by raising their gene levels through special cards. Depending on which cards you pick, you can unlock hundreds of possible combinations, opening the door to even more challenging strategies and playstyles.

Gameplay Overview (CHAOS RINGS III)

CHAOS RINGS III brings several changes to how the game plays. If you already know the combat style from earlier entries, don’t worry—the core feel is retained. Most adjustments are about presentation and systems, rather than completely reinventing everything.

1) Gene System Replaced by Cards

In CHAOS RINGS III, the genetic system is removed. Instead of “Genes” supporting attribute-based power growth as in previous parts, the game uses a Card system.

• When you combine special cards, your character generates unique genes.
• Generated genes come in Normal, Rare, and Super Rare tiers.
• There are over 138 different genes, allowing countless attack and defense approaches.

2) Skills, Levels, and Switching Genes

Genes don’t just boost power through cards—characters can also gain active and passive skills.

• At certain levels, a gene card unlocks a new skill.
• Each character can have only one active gene at a time.
• Despite that, you can swap genes freely across unlimited matches.

3) Element Pairing in Battles

Gene cards interact through pair matchups, following a clear combat principle:

• Darkness vs Light
• Fire vs Ice
• Black Earth vs its counterpart

These pairings are a key foundation for encounters in CHAOS RINGS III.

4) Awaken System Removed, Hidden Mechanic Added

The Awaken System is no longer present. Instead, a hidden system is used.

• No meter bar is required (unlike before).
• You’ll need to recognize how this hidden mechanic activates during battle.
• If used wisely, it can even turn the tide of a fight.

5) Skill Combination Highlights

Another standout change is skill combining. During your turn, if your character uses the same move again, you can trigger a new skill.

• The resulting skill is significantly stronger.
• You don’t take the usual current health drain damage.



• This creates more chances to recover in matchups that look hopeless.

6) More Side Quests Everywhere

Compared to the main story of Part 3, side quests appear much more frequently.

• Every map is packed with these quests.
• Expect countless monsters of many different races.
• Be prepared to invest a lot of time exploring and completing these activities.

7) Coins and How to Use Them

The main currency in CHAOS RINGS III is coins. You’ll spend them to buy key items and progress your roster.

• Coins are used to purchase keys for treasure chests.
• They can also open random gift boxes.
• Coins are used to buy new equipment for characters.
• Every day, the system automatically gives you 5 coins.
• Completing a mission grants 1 additional coin.
• Finishing special events earns you a lot of coins.

Tips

Watch Your Gear Weight

Gear weight matters. The heavier a character’s equipment is, the longer it takes them to attack. In many cases, that means powerful, heavy equipment will cause your characters to act later—after most enemies have already taken their turns.

That said, you can still adjust stats and balance your loadout to fit your strategy.
