Date A Live is a role-playing game inspired by the anime. Step into the shoes of Shido, the only person capable of sealing away Spirits. Instead of fighting them head-on, you’ll bring them closer by dating them—building relationships that turn them into your partners while helping them fall in love with you.

Face off against otherworldly threats and “calamities” in battles. Use each Spirit’s skills strategically to trigger powerful combo sequences, clear the battlefield by defeating every enemy, and earn valuable rewards to strengthen and support your favorite Spirit girls.

The game recreates key moments from the anime, letting you date the characters in different locations, deepen your bonds over time, and unlock stunning artwork. Every Spirit also has multiple skins to discover—so you can dress them in flashy outfits that stand out even more during combat, while unlocking additional cool special effects.

Characters

Shido Itsuka

Shido was adopted into the Itsuka household when he was very young, living an otherwise ordinary life—until a new high school year begins. As a second-year student, he accidentally stumbles into a reality that neither he nor the public understands.

As he learns the truth behind Spacequakes and the ongoing conflict between the AST and the Spirits, Shido is drawn into a secret organization called Ratatoskr, which is commanded by his younger sister. Her only explanation is that only Shido can save the Spirits by dating them—so, reluctantly, he joins the mission.

Rescuing Spirits becomes part of his routine, but each new encounter brings new emotional pressure for Shido. He’s inexperienced dealing with the opposite gender, and the more he tries to help the Spirits, the more he discovers something personal at the core of the conflict—something that pulls him into confrontation with Deus Ex Machina Industries, led by the villain Isaac Westcott.

Tohka Yatogami

Tohka first arrives on Earth on April 10th, immediately coming under attack by the AST. That same day, Shido encounters Tohka and later learns the real cause behind the Spacequake incidents.

When Tohka meets Shido again, she’s targeted by the AST once more. During their brief conversation on that second encounter, Shido gives Tohka her name. On their third meeting—when they go on a date—Shido helps Tohka understand that not all humans want to kill her, unlike the AST.

After their date is interrupted by the AST, Tohka’s powers are sealed for the first time, triggered by Shido’s kiss. Even after her powers are sealed, Tohka’s mental state remains unstable and can shift suddenly, largely due to emotions she doesn’t yet know how to manage.

With guidance and support from Reine, along with reassurance from Shido, Tohka gradually learns to handle her jealousy better. Thanks to Ratatoskr, she attends the same school, grade, and class as Shido, where she makes friends—while still viewing Origami as an enemy in many ways, since Origami is also in the same classroom.

Tohka currently lives in an apartment complex built by Ratatoskr for Spirits, near the Itsuka residence where Shido lives.

Mio Takamiya

Mio Takamiya is known as the First Spirit, the first Spirit to ever appear on Earth. About 30 years before the main events of Date A Live, she was summoned into the world by Sir Isaac Ray Pelham Westcott, Ellen Mira Mathers, and Elliot Baldwin Woodman using the Spirit Formula, gathering the world’s mana into a single point.

But her “birth” also triggered the first Spacequake in history, occurring at some point on the frontier between China and Mongolia. It reportedly killed over 150 million people and sparked a chain of disasters worldwide that lasted about six months.

For much of the story, Kurumi Tokisaki chases Nia Honjo due to the information Nia has about the First Spirit. When Kurumi and Nia finally meet during Nia Creation, Kurumi asks when the First Spirit appeared, why she appeared, and the full extent of her powers—details Nia provides by using her Angel, Rasiel.

Miku Izayoi

Miku is a Spirit and also an idol. She strongly dislikes men—so much so that Shido even had to cross-dress just to interact with her. Her Angel Gabriel can manipulate and brainwash people through her voice.

Miku becomes interested in undercover Shido because he isn’t affected by her hypnotic abilities. She challenges him to a contest: if he loses, he must transfer to Rindouji. The competition is all about determining who can claim the title of the best school.

A singing contest is held as part of the challenge, which Miku later wins, though the “best school” title is decided by Raizen Hig (text continues beyond the provided excerpt).
