Useful Tips for Football Manager 26
Team Cohesion plays a major role in how players position themselves and how they respond to what’s happening during matches. The more time your squad spends together—whether through games or specific training sessions—the better their partnerships become and the more comfortable the team is tactically. That typically translates into stronger overall performances.
It’s important to build chemistry across your squad. Keep in mind that team cohesion tends to drop when you make lots of signings in a short period.
To help your tactics reach their full potential, prioritize training sessions that improve teamwork and team cohesion. Many General Training sessions will slightly raise cohesion, but there are certain sessions you should spread across every training week to push cohesion toward its maximum level.
Recommended training approach
- Pre-season or end-of-week big matches: choosing a Team Bonding session is a smart move.
- Team Bonding: the team spends time on social activities to strengthen player relationships. This also boosts team Teamwork Attributes and increases Happiness—a strong positive combination.
- Match Practice: if your schedule follows a “one match per week” rhythm, consider setting up Match Practice every week (for example, if the match is on Sunday, scheduling it for Wednesday can be effective).
- Impact of Match Practice: it increases team cohesion while also affecting tactical familiarity and players’ individual roles—both key factors for making your tactics work.
- Tactical familiarity matters: it’s usually only once your team’s tactical familiarity reaches its peak that you should evaluate whether your tactics truly perform as intended.
- Last training before matchday: select Match Tactics. This influences both Teamwork and Team Cohesion.
- After the match: after you prepare tactically on Fridays (before traveling), it’s often beneficial to schedule a Match Review session the day after the match.
- Scheduling around travel: if you need time for flights back, you can place the Match Review in S3, or use S2 with a Recovery session before or after.

Training calendar controls

If you want to adjust training schedules, go to Squad > Training > Training Calendar.
- Click the box on the left that shows the schedule name, or
- tap any session to manually change an existing training schedule.

If you’re trying to recreate a specific example schedule, you’ll need to create a new training schedule until the Football Manager 26 training schedules megapack from Passion4FM becomes available.

Note! To boost team cohesion even further, you can swap one of the Recovery Sessions on Sunday with a Community Outreach session.
