Deep in Brixen Space is a lighthearted, pick-up-and-play adventure where you guide an adorable orc girl through a spaceship overrun by tentacled alien enemies. Your job is to carefully navigate around obstacles, use her gear to fight back, and keep moving until you can clear the path forward.
Watch your timing—if tentacles grab you, the game triggers special animated sequences that add to the chaos and excitement.
With an in-game tutorial and multiple stages that ramp up in difficulty, the game is built for both learning quickly and proving you can handle tougher runs.
Gameplay Basics
The core experience is simple and fast to understand. You mainly:
- Move through the environment
- Jump over or onto obstacles
- Explore for progress and secrets
- Shoot enemies
- Reload when needed
- Use a flashlight when the area is dark

There’s no complex upgrade system and no huge skill tree to manage. Instead, the game leans into straightforward action—get where you need to go, handle enemies, and press forward.
When enemies grab you, you’ll need to fight back and struggle to break free.
Story & Setting
The sci-fi world looks stylish and cool, but the game keeps the plot fairly minimal. You generally know three things: you’re playing as a furry character on a spaceship, and that ship is being overrun by horn-crazed tentacle creatures. The rest of the “why” is less emphasized than the “survive the run” part—getting through the corridors and making it out alive.
Style, Presentation, and Animations
Visually, the game uses a classic 16-bit pixel-art look for much of the experience. The main character is presented as cute, while the enemies are intentionally gross-looking, creating a noticeable contrast.
You’ll also find expressive animations and facial reactions from the main character, which help make her feel more lively and distinct.
Beyond the standard tentacle encounters, there are more intense XXX-style scenes that go further than just being grabbed by monsters. A key twist is how you unlock them: you’re expected to locate hidden secret tapes around the level to trigger these special moments. This adds an extra layer to exploration rather than relying only on the main tentacle-driven content.

Final Cinema Animation
- Final cinema tape animation has been added.
- It’s located right next to the Big Computer.
Work in Progress Boss
- An early look at the boss is now available.
- For now, you can access it through the Big Computer.
- The area needed to face it will be developed in a later development cycle.
- The boss is described as “just a guy” for now.
- The miniquest reward would be a cinema tape, but that isn’t implemented yet.

Mox Meetup: Additional Interaction
- Woof can be seen offering a scarf to kbol when he’s cold.
- Visual telegraphing was added to help players notice that there’s something to find at the meetup point (the scarf for a cold koubold).
Roof Ammo
- Some areas now have ammo located in the ceiling that drops down.
Quality of Life
Brief Tutorial for One-Handed Mode
- A very brief tutorial for one-handed mode has been added.
- The tutorial for standard keyboard play is still present—just turn off one-handed mode to see it.
One-Handed Controls: Deadzones
- The one-handed interaction zone can now be shrunk or expanded.
- This is especially useful for larger monitors.
Other UI/Mode Improvements
- Directional help for mouse pointers when using one-handed mode has been added.
- An icon now appears when stamina runs out.
Modes and Misc
- Infinite Ammo Mode: unlimited shooting.
- Auto-combine Ammo Mode: ammo is automatically combined on every reload. (You can already combine ammo by holding reload.)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a couple issues with Mox Meetup, including duplicating sprites.
- Fixed Exploration and Bored Mode sometimes starting on their own.
- Fixed Mox gaining stamina from shooting while not in Bored Mode.
- Fixed being unable to hug Woof while he’s being flashlight’d.
- Fixed the aiming cursor getting stuck in grapple mode when using a controller.
- Fixed Woof getting stuck on the third floor after using the elevator.
- Fixed the controller’s left joystick triggering interaction with every interactable when the player walks past it.
Player Impressions
Some reviewers note that side-scrolling games can be difficult to build, but they’ve enjoyed this one. Enemies may not be overly smart—though that fits the theme—while the camera and shooting feel are praised. Even with pixel art, the scenes are described as well-made, and players say they’re looking forward to the full release.
