Storyline

Devil’s Gambit centers on Hector, a healer who has come back to Rannai, the small town tied to his earliest memories. He still holds onto the past: his time with the mischievous but friendly wolves, the tales they shared, the fertile forest to the east, and the mist that seemed to announce every sunrise.

Most of all, Hector remembers Cadgan—a wolf a bit younger and smaller than him, an unrepentant troublemaker who carried a whole bundle of emotions with him when he left.

That was nine years ago. Now Hector returns as a grown man—only to find the town changed under the new duke’s rule, and Cadgan transformed into someone cold and distant.

As Hector resumes his work as a healer and rekindles a passion long buried, he starts noticing something in the air—something that goes beyond love.
