Strategies for Cult of the Lamb
- Boss start tip: At the beginning of many combat areas, you’ll see a statue linked to the region’s boss. Steal Devotion from it, and you can even break it apart for stone.
- Get your first weapon: You can also break the training dummies—often rewarding you with your initial weapon and extra lumber.
-
Know your starting weapons: Every combat section begins with a random speed weapon choice from: Fists, Daggers, Sword, Axes, or Hammers.
- Fists deal strong damage mainly on the final hit of a combo.
- Hammers are very slow—if you’re stuck using them, watch enemy timing closely and look for chances to switch weapons during a Crusade.
- Challenge banners: Some rooms feature banners with small symbols that indicate challenge modifiers. Expect surprises such as enemies having less health but dealing double damage, or chests that drop food instead of gold.
-
Plan using Tarot: Unless you find the Telescope Tarot Card, you won’t know what’s coming next in combat rooms. If you study the exits carefully, you can sometimes guess where respite is.
- Tarot Card rooms often have stars hanging near the entrance.
- In the blacksmith area, swords can be seen hanging above the exit.
-
Heart types:
- Red Hearts restore health up to your current maximum.
- Blue Hearts work like a one-time shield extension.
- Diseased Hearts act like Blue Hearts, but taking a hit also damages everyone on screen—so prepare by grabbing Tarot Cards or Crown abilities that increase your survivability.
- Trap awareness: Watch for rooms marked with a red X. These are traps that trigger when you step over them. There’s a short delay before activation—so consider luring enemies into them to make them take the damage.
