The game gives you an unlimited supply of DNA, letting you unlock and combine many ways to spread—such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, and more.

If that still isn’t enough, you can rewrite the pathogen’s genetic traits to boost its transmission and push into additional areas. A world map shows your progress, and it even lets you target any organization that’s working on a cure—slowing their efforts as you go.

Choose your challenge level with Casual, Normal, or Brutal. Feeling confident? Brutal is the toughest option and is designed to satisfy players who want high pressure. Want something more relaxed? Casual is there, and the difficulty setting can be selected freely to fit different play styles.

Gameplay

Each match puts you in control of a dangerous disease. Your goal is to outlast other competitors by spreading the plague, researching new symptoms, and ultimately bringing humanity to its end.

Spreading the infection

• You begin as Patient Zero.
• Infection is spread by placing markers in cities, which grants DNA points and helps you prevent other players from gaining control.
• You may select which countries appear as targets on the map, but infection requires both climate compatibility and a connection to the chosen countries.
• When enough countries are fully infected, you can try removing them using the Death Dice.

Evolution and symptom planning

• As you earn DNA, you can upgrade your unique pathogen by evolving trait cards along the evolution rail (DNA is spent to do so).
• At the beginning, your disease is weak and lacks specificity—so you’ll need to add new symptoms to strengthen its impact.



• Because the world changes over time, you must adapt your strategy and take advantage of openings created by other players.

Examples of how symptoms affect play

• An early nosebleed can speed up an outbreak’s spread.



• Diarrhea can help your pathogen handle hot countries.
• Sneezing can spread the virus to new continents through the air.



• Systemic organ failure can help you wipe out multiple countries in a single turn.

Use events to swing the balance

When nations start to weaken, deploy powerful event cards to shift the power structure. For instance, you can bomb a city in a strong nation to eliminate it, or host the Olympics to trigger a large flow of infected people toward a healthy continent.
