You’ll control your fighter to attack, defend, jump, and dodge with smooth on-screen action visuals.

Engaging Performance

The extra and advanced battle options from The King of Fighters '98 are not included this time. Instead, the game uses a single battle mode that feels similar to the advanced style from the previous title. During fights, you build energy by hitting opponents and executing special moves. Based on the button combinations you use, you can trigger two upgraded states during battle.

Counter Mode

• Boosts your attack power
• Lets you use super special moves without limits
• Enables chaining super special moves through Super Cancel Attack or Move Attack, starting from normal attacks to build longer combos

Armor Mode

• Increases defense so you can take more damage
• Prevents super special moves from being used while Armor Mode is active

After each match, the game calculates a score based on your performance. If your score is high enough, you’ll earn an extra battle after the final boss in Arcade Mode.

The remake of The King of Fighters: Evolution adds three additional stages and two new fighters, both available only as Fighters.
