This game isn’t trying to be shocking just for the sake of it. Graphic violence, sexual content, and substance use are presented as part of the narrative. Violence is tied to Lumis’ harsh realities, intimacy helps bring characters into focus, and addiction reflects the world’s slow decay. Mature content is meant to connect to character arcs and world-building, keeping the story engaging rather than exploitative.

A Nod to Isekai Fans

If you know the genre well, Luminary Protocol intentionally plays with expectations. There’s no chosen-one prophecy and no instant power-up. Instead, you follow a protagonist dealing with displacement, loss, and the weight of hard decisions.

For newcomers, the world-building unfolds gradually, and character motivations are made clearer with helpful tooltips and optional lore logs—so it’s easier to get oriented.

Changelog

Since Early Access release (last week): The developer reports that a lot of under-the-hood work went into the game’s UI and variable management. All character sheets have been moved to a new format, and character bios were rewritten (mostly lightly), aiming to make them feel like reports or descriptions written by someone else.

The new character-screen format enables more dynamic updates. As you hit milestones and uncover more information, the game will reveal additional details. That means you won’t see everything about every character immediately—new details will appear as the MC’s knowledge grows (including what’s available through government information).

Character features were also redesigned. Because of that, some older bios may no longer match the current affinity information. The character images will also change as you progress.

Added MC Stat Tracking

A stat tracking system was added to the MC screen (visible in the provided screenshot). Future updates plan to make certain images/visual elements appear depending on your stats—for instance, if Chaos is highest, the chaos symbol behind the notification text will reflect that. Similar progress-based visual changes are planned for characters as well.

Video Galleries

Video galleries have been added and will unlock as you reach specific milestones. At the moment, video galleries are available for:

• MC, Alice, and Emelia

The MC and Alice galleries unlock after the end of Alice’s event, while Emelia’s unlock after the end of her event. Like the image galleries, these will update dynamically as you encounter new character content.

In the future, the developer wants to add a personal journal screen for each character. The idea is that the MC will keep short diary entries tied to experiences with each character—but that’s planned for later.

Lossless WebP Image Conversion

All image assets were converted to lossless WebP format. This reduced the overall file size by about 2GB, bringing the game down to roughly 2–2.5GB. As a result, the developer says an Android version can be published.

What’s Coming Next (0.36 and 0.35 Story Update)

The developer notes that these changes will be included in the free 0.36 update, which is set to go live tomorrow, alongside the main story update from 0.35.

Shortly after 0.36 is released, they plan to publish the original formatted assets and the best-unused asset packs here, with content for all tiers (including free).

Work Preparing for 0.40

The developer is also building assets for 0.40, with a lot prepared for Alice & Lyra. Some of these can be seen in attached screens in raw, unedited form. They warn that hands may look rough, and that seams or other glitches may be present—these are not corrected or enhanced, just as produced.

They also mention starting story work for the next update and being around 40% through that writing.
