RadarScope Introduction

RadarScope RadarScope is a powerful weather radar app for Android, showing real-time radar and severe convection forecasts. Use distance tools, advanced radar products, and custom alerts to stay ahead of storms and protect your day.

RadarScope

RadarScope is a well-known weather forecasting app that makes it easy to view radar imagery and severe convective weather guidance from nearby stations. It’s designed to support everyday planning by showing detailed information derived from the latest ground observations and atmospheric sounding data. After analysis, it can also suggest potential tracks for a range of severe weather scenarios—helping you stay safer during high-impact events. The app is updated and refined regularly to deliver more accurate radar data and forecasts, so you can feel more confident in what you see.

Real-Time Radar Data

RadarScope

RadarScope streams radar information in real time, giving you the most current view available—especially important when you need to make quick decisions during severe weather.

Advanced Radar Products

The app includes a broad set of radar product types, such as reflectivity, velocity, differential reflectivity, correlation coefficient, and more. These advanced views help you understand weather behavior more deeply.

Customizable Alerts

  • Create alerts for specific conditions, including severe storms or tornadoes.

Dual-Pane Display

RadarScope

Use dual-pane mode to compare two different radar products side-by-side. This is especially helpful when you want to analyze and compare products in more detail.

Note: Dual-pane mode requires a RadarScope Pro subscription.

How RadarScope Works

Radar Selection

RadarScope is built to show data from one radar at a time. When you launch the app, you’ll see a map with buttons that mark radar locations. Tap a radar button on the map to choose which radar to view.

Map Controls

You can interact with the map using common touch gestures similar to those in the standard Google Maps app:

  • Drag to move/scroll around.
  • Pinch with two fingers to zoom in and out.
  • Double-tap to zoom in.
  • Two-finger tap to zoom out.

Find My Location

To quickly locate yourself and switch to the nearest radar, tap the location button in the lower-left corner.

Changing Radar Products

RadarScope provides a full lineup of single-site radar products—from commonly used reflectivity views to Doppler velocity, precipitation estimates, dual-polarization products, and other derived data. To change what you’re viewing:

  • Tap the product name in the lower-left corner (just above the color legend).
  • Select the product you want from the list.

Dual-Pane Toggle

  • The dual-pane button switches between dual-pane and single-pane views.
  • In dual-pane mode, the map splits into two sections, with each side showing a different product from the currently selected radar.
  • Requires RadarScope Pro.

RadarScope

The Share button opens Android’s standard sharing options, allowing you to send content to other apps and services. It can be used to save radar images and share them on social platforms. Android offers built-in sharing options, and additional sharing methods may be provided through extensions in popular third-party apps (for example, X and Facebook). You can also use this feature to submit weather reports to mPING and Spotter Network. See the Sharing section for more details.

Tools

The Tool button gives access to features for interacting with the map and radar data. The most recently used tool appears on the button. To choose a different tool:

  • Press and hold the tool button.
  • Select the tool you want from the menu.

For details on each tool, check the Tools section.

User Feedback

  • “This app is great! I tried several different radar apps, and radar-wise this is the best. It includes soundings, satellite data, SPC outlooks, warnings and watches, lightning data, and NEXRAD going back to 1991 for some radars. Keep in mind that many of the things I mentioned are included in Pro Tier 1 and 2 only. If it also had fronts, drylines, highs and lows, and historical data for all of those features, I would truly want nothing else. Keep up the great work, RadarScope!”
  • “For me, this is the best radar…”
