Build Around Roles, Not Just Rarity

Decide based on roles first: place tanks in the front, damage dealers behind them, and support in the middle. Sword-type tanks can control choke points, while archers and scouts should stay on safer tiles. Units that provide buffs, slows, or similar control effects help bridge the gaps by supporting the rest of your formation. When new epic or legendary heroes arrive, decide which role they replace rather than rebuilding your whole lineup from scratch.

Let Heatmaps Guide Your Final Formation

Tile heatmaps are “free power” if you use them correctly. The toughness view helps you spot the best tank positions, the damage view highlights strong DPS tiles, and the control view shows where slows and stuns can hit the most enemies. Before tough stages, quickly check all three views and move your main tank, your strongest ranged unit, and your best control piece onto the top tiles for each category. This quick routine often beats simply adding more levels without a plan.

Use Merging as Your Main Power Spike

Merging multiple units into higher-rank troops concentrates a lot of stats onto a single tile, making your board both stronger and cleaner. Don’t stockpile low-rank copies. Merge while the wave is under control, then refill empty spaces right away with fresh recruits. Outside of battles, focus level-ups on the units you’re merging most—each merge multiplies the extra stats you’ve earned.
