Gameplay

You play as Akali or Rey, exploring the Emerald Mountains while battling different Pokémon and capturing them using Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott.

What makes it different

• True open-world freedom: Unlike many entries in the series, this game emphasizes an extremely detailed map and lets you move around and discover areas on your own.
• Wild encounters are chosen: Instead of purely random Pokémon appearing the moment you enter a location, you can influence which Pokémon you encounter in the wild. This makes the adventure feel more like you’re really training—not just reacting.

Turn-based battles (with limits)

• Each Pokémon has a limited number of uses, and can learn up to four different moves.



• If a Pokémon’s HP reaches zero, it can no longer fight.
• You can bring a maximum of six Pokémon into battle.

Using items in combat

You can also rely on items during fights, including:

• HP-restoring potions to heal
• Revival items to bring fallen teammates back
• Berries that can remove negative status effects
• Poké Balls for catching Pokémon

Important: Poké Balls are for catching wild Pokémon only—you can’t use them to capture other trainers’ Pokémon. Also, using any item costs one turn.
