Story Background

Year: 2017 AD. Earth is calm, yet it seems to sense an unavoidable fate. Like other planets, a secret initiative is formed for a special mission. This special organization is known as Chaldea, a group dedicated to monitoring Earth’s future.

One day, Chaldea finds overwhelming signs that human history will be erased within two years—pointing to 2019.

No clear reason is given. At the time, no one knows the culprit, the organization behind it, or the mechanism that will bring about this looming catastrophe.

While searching desperately for the source, Chaldea discovers a small Japanese town that does not appear on any of their observation maps. Ever since then, this place has remained a complete mystery. Chaldea believes this land is the cause behind humanity’s extinction, so they run a major investigation—traveling back to 2004 to learn what truly happened there.

However, time travel itself—especially to change the past—is taboo in any era. Chaldea sidesteps this by converting its members into Spiritrons, spirit-based bodies that can carry adventurers into the past for discovery.

With the help of heroic allies, they intervene across key moments in history. Through these actions, they identify the cause of humanity’s destruction and locate a way to eliminate the respective spacetime singularities. This is the tale of Fate/Grand Order—a fight carried out by unsung heroes who risk everything to defy history, reshape the timeline, and battle fate to protect humankind.

Gameplay

Fate/Grand Order (FGO) brings strategic, turn-based RPG gameplay. During your turn, you’re given up to five cards to choose from for your attacks.

Each card shows a character, and that character determines who attacks in the turn order. Still, you can only select three cards from the list—either:

• One card per character, or
• Multiple cards of the same type.

Brave Chain

If you choose three cards of the same type, you trigger a Brave Chain. In this mode, your main character releases three attacks plus one extra strike, designed to deal massive damage.

Color Combos

You can also activate special combo effects by choosing three cards of the same color:

• Green: Quick Chain — (Critical Rate UP) boosts the critical rate on your next turn.
• Red: Buster Chain — (Attack UP) increases your attack power immediately during the turn this combo triggers.
• Blue: Arts Chain — (NP Gauge UP) increases the NP Gauge, which is used to activate a Noble Phantasm.

Noble Phantasm

When a servant’s NP Gauge reaches 100%, their Noble Phantasm becomes available. You’ll unlock their Noble Phantasm card, and the activation features vivid animations and effects for powerful, high-impact abilities.
