Bisq Notifications is a built-in feature of the Bisq decentralized exchange that helps you stay aware of important events tied to your trades, your security, and changes happening on the network. Because Bisq is peer-to-peer and doesn’t rely on a central authority, these alerts can keep you up to date in real time—even if the app isn’t open.

About Bisq

To use Bisq, you first need to download and install it. Many exchanges are centralized, meaning they run on servers managed by the exchange itself. Bisq is different: it’s decentralized and runs only on the computers of Bisq users.

Bisq handles trade offers through a peer-to-peer network. This worldwide network is made up of people running Bisq on their own devices.

Centralized services are easier to monitor, block, shut down, or compromise. Peer-to-peer networks—such as BitTorrent, Bitcoin, and Bisq—are harder to observe at scale, censor, disable, or hack.

So if you want to use the Bisq network, you’ll need to install and run the software on your own computer.

Privacy Details

In the end, Apple/Google can see that a device using your device token is receiving Bisq notifications. Also note that they already know you’re likely a Bisq user once you install the Bisq mobile app. However, neither Google nor Apple can view the actual notification content.

This is why operating system pop-ups can’t include notification-specific text.

At present, the relay node doesn’t store any data such as notifications or device tokens.
