MSDroid is an Android tuning app built to work with MegaSquirt and Speeduino engine control units (ECUs). Use it with your phone or tablet to set up custom dashboards, tune the ECU, and capture data logs directly from your device.

The app is made for smooth communication with the vehicle’s ECU, which makes it useful for both experienced builders and everyday enthusiasts. It also adapts to many screen sizes—from smaller phones to larger tablets—by using layouts tuned to the display you’re using, so controls and panels stay easy to read and operate.

To function properly, MSDroid needs read and write access to storage. This access is required to save important files such as project definitions, INI files, MSQ files, and MSL log files. If you deny storage permissions, the app won’t be able to work.

For connecting to your ECU, MSDroid supports either:

• Bluetooth to RS232 (serial), or
• USB to RS232 (serial) when your Android device supports USB Host mode.

If you use MS3 and your device supports USB Host, setup becomes even simpler—typically you only need a USB cable, since MS3 includes an internal FTDI USB interface.

  • Use a Bluetooth to RS232 interface, or
  • If your device supports USB Host, use a USB to RS232 interface.
  For MS3 users with USB Host support, a USB cable may be all you need thanks to the MS3 internal FTDI USB interface.
