PubHub supports undergraduate students by strengthening career readiness and boosting confidence, while also helping the scientific community by preparing professionals who are better equipped for their fields. As opportunities and funding for undergraduate research continue to grow, more students are getting involved in structured disciplinary work and creative projects across a wide range of subjects.

Even with that momentum, relatively few students share their results through scholarly channels such as peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Common obstacles include limited faculty time for mentoring students through academic writing, constrained institutional budgets for undergraduate research, and students’ unfamiliarity with how publishing works.

To address these gaps, this article introduces PubHub, an online collection of 50+ learning modules organized into five categories. The goal is to guide students through the processes of publishing and presenting their research. A pilot evaluation with both students and faculty suggests the platform is easy to use.

While PubHub can’t automatically increase research funding or reduce the peer-review timeline, it can significantly lower barriers and make publishing more accessible. It also helps refocus faculty effort toward the intellectual side of research by giving students the right guidance and insights when they need them.

Conclusion

PubHub is the name of a new Dutch community network built on public values. “PubHubs” stands for Public Hubs: the network is open and transparent and is designed to protect participants’ personal data.
