Skullgirls Introduction
Skullgirls Skullgirls is a 2D tag-team fighting RPG with 150+ collectible characters. Build a solo or team squad, unleash special moves and ensemble assists, and fight in PvP, Rift, and arena events for big rewards.
Skullgirls
Skullgirls is a 2D role-playing fighting game packed with 150+ distinct characters you can collect. Pick the fighters you like most, form the squad you want, and jump into battles against a variety of enemies. By using each character’s skills, special moves, and ultimate attacks, you can take control of fights, win battles, and claim valuable rewards that help your fighters grow faster.
The game also includes a battle assist feature: your characters can automatically perform different combat sequences, which helps reduce the time and effort needed to execute combos. The trade-off is that it can limit how much potential your character can show compared to full manual play.

You’ll also find a range of live activities such as PvP battles, Rift Battles, and arena events, each offering strong rewards for players who take on the challenge. These events are updated regularly, with more content and story additions planned—so keep an eye out for what’s next.
Gameplay

Skullgirls is a tag-team fighting game. You control characters with unique moves and fighting styles, battling your opponent directly. To win, you need to damage the enemy until their health is fully depleted, knocking them out. A match ends when all opposing characters are knocked out.
If time runs out first, the winner is the player with the most remaining health.
- You can fight with one fighter, or build a team of two or three.
- Solo fighters generally have more health and deal more damage.
- With larger teams (though typically weaker overall), you gain the ability to recover health when tagging out.
- When you tag, you can perform assists (also called ensemble attacks): the active character summons an off-screen teammate to execute a move.
- Skullgirls lets you customize assists, giving you deeper control over how your team plays together.

Technical balance and safeguards
To address common system and balance issues found in fighting games, Skullgirls includes protections such as:
- Infinite combo detection: Infinite combos happen when a player can create a repeating attack loop that the opponent can’t escape. If the game detects such a loop by monitoring your actions, the opposing player can break free by pressing any button.
- Protection against “unblockable” attacks: Some situations can make it impossible to block—such as using a low-hitting move at the same time as a high-hitting assist. The game helps reduce this by providing a short safety window after blocking, which guards against other hit types.
Key Features
Hand-drawn animation
Skullgirls uses thousands of hand-drawn frames so actions remain clear and readable. Hits, attacks, and movement are easy to track, which improves timing and spacing. Each character has distinct animations that support learning matchups, and the overall visual style stays consistent across game modes—so practice translates smoothly from one mode to another.
Tap and swipe controls
Designed for touch play, Skullgirls lets you perform combos using taps and swipes instead of complicated inputs. You can adjust settings to match your preferences and device. If you want to focus more on timing and strategy, you can enable Fight Assist to make execution simpler, which also makes it easier to progress even during shorter play sessions.

RPG progression and loadouts
Collect Fighters, level them up, and evolve them to boost performance. Equip Special Moves and Blockbusters, then upgrade them to unlock more options. By building custom loadouts, you can tailor your tools for different opponents and gradually refine sets that match your preferred playstyle.
Team synergy
In matches, you assemble up to three fighter squads to create synergy and trigger buffs. Choose Fighters that cover each other’s weaknesses while amplifying strengths. Smart team building helps you counter enemy lineups and keep offensive momentum. Once your squad is set, switching and timing become a major part of your strategy.
Strategies
Do your Daily events

Daily events are a great source of new moves, skill points, and coins for your Fighters. Aim to complete them all the way (100%) to maximize the rewards.
Finish your daily missions
On the right side of the main screen, tap the button featuring Molly. It lists tasks that help you earn points. Once you reach 100 points, you’ll receive 10k coins and 50 theonite each day.
Use deployments
From the same menu, open Deployments and send out your Fighters for extra EXP. You may also get bonus rewards like coins or relics.
Save your theonite
It’s tempting to collect every gold and diamond, but try to hold onto your theonite for a 10 + 1 relic pull for the relic you want, or for purchasing coins.
Play Story Mode and Prize Fights
Story Mode often provides larger bonuses for completion, including items like keys or character relics—but those rewards are one-time uses. It’s still worth doing.
Prize Fights are different: you compete against many other teams to build up a high score and earn tier-based rewards. You can only choose one tier, with tiers including Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond. If you reach the end of the reward track, you’ll receive a character reward.
