Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a well-known action-adventure game in which you guide two brothers on a journey to find the Water of Life—their mission is to save a man who is gravely ill. Along the way, you’ll face traps, puzzles, and tense challenges that demand careful timing and cooperation.

You can play the experience on your own, following the full story, or invite friends to join. In co-op, each player controls one brother, using a different viewpoint to help solve puzzles and experience the journey together. The game also expands the original with new puzzles and hidden Easter eggs, plus beautiful orchestral music recorded with a symphony orchestra for a more immersive feel.

Story

The adventure begins with a boy named Naiee standing at the tombstone of his mother, who drowned at sea while he was unable to save her. After a comforting visit from his mother’s ghost, his older brother Naia urges him to help their sick father reach the village doctor.

The doctor explains that the only way to save the father is to collect water from the Tree of Life. So the brothers set off through the village, hills, and mountains—encountering dangers like a local bully, an aggressive farm dog, and deadly wolves.

As they travel, they also help others, including:

• Reuniting a couple of trolls
• Saving a man who attempts suicide
• Assisting an inventor

Eventually, the brothers meet a violent group of tribesmen and manage to rescue a young girl who was about to be sacrificed. While traveling, the girl begins to seduce Naia, much to Naiee’s frustration, and tricks them into entering a cave.

Inside, the girl reveals her true form: a monstrous spider creature that tries to eat the brothers. The brothers fight back and kill the creature by tearing off its legs—but not before it mortally wounds Naia.

Near the end of their journey, they reach the Tree of Life. Naia insists that Naiee go on alone to reach the top. Naiee collects the Water of Life, but when he returns to the bottom, he discovers that Naia has already died from the wound. The water cannot revive him, so Naiee buries his older brother and mourns before continuing back to the village.

When they finally reach the shoreline, Naiee must overcome his inability to swim in order to bring the water to his dying father. His mother’s spirit appears again, offering comfort and motivation. With Naia’s guidance from beyond, Naiee forces himself to swim to the village, delivers the water to the doctor, and the father recovers overnight.

Shortly after, Naiee and his father visit the tombstones of both his mother and Naia to mourn.

• “Perfect for mobile.” The interface is simple, so you’re not distracted by lots of on-screen buttons. Autosave lets you jump back to the latest puzzle quickly. There were a couple bugs for one player, including replaying the last chapter to see the end, but they were willing to overlook it. Reported playtime: 3–4 hours.

Walkthrough

Prologue

After the opening cutscene, have the two brothers work together to move the wheelbarrow along the path and onto a large wooden platform. Leave the wheelbarrow there for now, then go down the stone steps until you reach the water.

Follow the beach until you find a small pile of stones, then use them.

Take a Break.

Return back to your father. Have the older brother move the large lever to transport the wooden platform across the gap. Move your father onto the next wooden platform.

Then both brothers move to the ladder. Have the older brother hold out his hands so the younger brother can climb and jump up to the ladder.

Tip: Keep close coordination between the brothers here—positioning and timing are key to getting everyone onto the next area.
