Story

The narrative centers on Yuri Mito, the only son of the local priest at Yachimata Shrine. After a sequence of events during spring break, Yuri encounters Kikuramikami no Hime, a guardian tied to a mysterious relic hidden in the woods near his school. She explains the long, troubled relationship between humans and the Tayutai—a mythical people sealed away within the relic due to fears they could threaten humanity.

To help close the gap between their worlds, the goddess behind the seal reincarnates as a young girl named Mashiro and places her trust in Yuri. Unfortunately, the relic is destroyed by accident, freeing the Tayutai. Among them are the particularly dangerous “Three Mightiest,” powerful enemies who harbor deep hostility toward humans.

Using spirit abilities unique to his lineage, Yuri teams up with Mashiro and three other heroines to explore a hopeful question: can humans and Tayutai coexist peacefully? This romantic fantasy unfolds as a heartfelt journey of personal growth, connection, and the lingering mysteries of love.

Gameplay

Tayutama is a romance visual novel where you play as Yuri Mito. Most of your time is spent following the story’s narrative and dialogue, making choices at key moments.

• Story presentation: Dialogue appears with character sprites positioned over the game’s background scenes.
• CG scenes: At certain points, the game displays CG artwork that replaces the usual backgrounds and sprites.



• Gallery rewards: Once you’ve completed the game at least once, you can view a gallery of the CGs you’ve seen and the background music from the title screen.

Characters

Mito Yuuri

Yuuri is a high school student attending the town’s co-ed school. He reluctantly assumes that he’ll eventually have to take over Yachimata Shrine from his father, but in practice his real interests are tinkering with motorbikes in the garage attached to the shrine. His relationship with his father is a bit strained. When Mashiro insists she’s his “wife,” Yuuri goes along with it—mostly because he doesn’t see many other options.

Mito Mashiro (CV: Matsuda Risa)

Mashiro is a Tayutai created with the goal of encouraging co-prosperity between humans and Tayutai. Because the goddess who created her was sealed away for hundreds of years, Mashiro is remarkably unfamiliar with modern technology and everyday customs. She wants to be the ideal partner for Yuuri and is determined to take care of his household chores. However, when it comes to training him to help defeat the “Big 3,” she turns out to be a strict and demanding mentor. She also ends up attending Flawless Academy, a prestigious all-girls school.

Kawai Ameri (CV: Hanano Kaori)

Ameri is Yuuri’s childhood friend and classmate. She’s loud and childish, and it’s clear she has feelings for Yuuri—though she doesn’t quite know what to do with them. This leads to intense jealousy toward Mashiro, and the two frequently clash. Ameri is an only child from a fairly wealthy family, so she’s been somewhat spoiled; her father, who is the school chairman, struggles to say “no” to her.

Takanashi Yumina (CV: Aoto Yuwa)

Yumina is Yuuri’s younger sister (not related by blood). She lived at the shrine with him and their father, managing cooking and cleaning for the household until she earned a scholarship and was accepted into Flawless Academy. She’s gentle, but shy and nervous—especially when it comes to adjusting to dorm life. During that transition, she becomes friends with Mifuyu, who she looks up to.
