Five Nights at Freddy’s Introduction
Five Nights at Freddy’s Step into Freddy’s Pizza as a night security guard in Five Nights at Freddy’s. Watch animatronics on shaky cameras, control doors and lights, and use strategy to survive the terrifying shifts.
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a highly anticipated horror game that drops you into a tense night shift at Freddy’s Pizza. You play as a security guard watching over the restaurant after hours, where the animatronic characters—especially Freddy Bear and several electronic dolls—behave in unsettling ways.
From a small monitoring room, you must keep an eye on every movement, distract the threats when needed, and solve puzzles that help reveal what’s really causing the animatronics’ strange activity. The big question is simple: can you survive all five brutal nights?
Gameplay Overview
You take control of Mike Schmidt, the night guard at the fictional Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Your goal is to survive the full shift, running from midnight to 6:00 AM—which equals 8 minutes and 55 seconds in real time.
During each night, four animatronics roam the restaurant and try to reach your office. Mike is forced to remain in the security office, which acts as your base.
Monitoring and Defenses
- Use the monitor to browse the security cameras. The visuals are grainy and dim, and the camera in the kitchen provides only an audio feed.
- Each animatronic follows unique movement patterns. They attempt to enter the office through one of two side hallways.
- You can turn on hall lights to check whether an animatronic is outside.
- You can shut either of the two doors to block them.
Power System (Critical)
- You have limited power each night, shown as a percentage in the bottom-left corner.
- Power drains gradually, and using the monitor, lights, and doors consumes even more.
- If power reaches zero, those tools shut off for the rest of the night.
If you fail to keep control, Freddy eventually appears in the office and will attack unless the clock hits 6 AM first.
Failure Conditions
- If an animatronic makes it into the office, it triggers a jumpscare, taking you to the Game Over screen.
- After that, you return to the title screen.
Nights and Progression
The main campaign is divided into five progressively harder levels, called “nights.”
- Completing Night 5 finishes the story and unlocks Night 6.
- Clearing Night 6 unlocks Night 7, where you can customize the animatronics’ difficulty settings.

Key Features
Animatronics with Changing Behavior

Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy don’t act the same way every night. Their routes and timing shift as difficulty rises, so you can’t rely on memorizing a fixed script. Instead, you’ll need awareness and steady reactions.
Mobile-Friendly Touch Controls

The game is built around quick tap-based controls for tasks like switching camera views, checking door lights, and sealing doors. Buttons are sized to work well on small screens, helping you respond fast when danger is close. Clear sound cues and brief animations support quick decisions during high-pressure moments.
Short Nights, Increasing Pressure
Each night lasts only a few minutes, making it easy to run attempts even when time is limited. As you progress, more active routes and tighter power margins create stronger pressure—perfect for mobile play, whether you’re doing one night or pushing for a longer session.
Resource Management Shapes Every Move
You make decisions from the office—when to check feeds, when to switch lights, and when to close entry points. Every action uses power from a limited supply, so careless moves can leave you exposed before sunrise. In other words, small choices can be the difference between surviving the night and getting caught.
Survival Strategies

- Start by waiting. Early on, the animatronics won’t rush you right away. Instead of checking cameras immediately, conserve power for later. A good moment to begin monitoring is when the “end call” option appears in the top-left of the screen. Then pull up the camera feed and watch carefully.
- Be careful about Foxy. How long you wait—and which night you’re on—matters. Foxy may be able to reach you and defeat you before your power drops below 90%.
- Stay calm. Getting scared can hurt your performance. If you’re constantly panicking, you may make irrational decisions and waste power. If you want to reduce the tension, try playing with the room lights on, keep the volume low, and focus on a less terrifying mindset (for example, imagining they’re trying to hug you rather than attack).
- Know your enemies. Check other pages on this wiki to learn how each character behaves and how to respond.
- Bonnie is fast and aggressive, but easier to spot and stop.
- Bonnie only approaches from your left side.
- Chica is slower and less aggressive than Bonnie.
- Chica is easy to detect and stop, and approaches from your right side.
- Foxy (continued beyond the provided text)…
