Star Wars: KOTOR is a role-playing game set in the Star Wars universe. Step into a galaxy-spanning adventure 4,000 years before the Galactic Empirecombat and stealth skills to defeat foes and collect rewards. Those rewards help you upgrade gear, character stats, and skills, strengthening your fighting ability as you progress.

As your journey continues, you’ll have to choose a path between light and dark, which reshapes the story and influences the fate of you and your companions.

Gameplay

Star Wars: KOTOR blends turn-based RPG structure with real-time combat. You can pause at any time to issue commands to your party, letting you adjust tactics mid-fight.

• Your party can include up to three characters, each with their own abilities and weapons.
• Switch party members depending on the mission or battle style you expect.
• The squad setup matters, but the combat system’s most distinctive element is the Force—handled separately in the game’s approach to this power.

Character Start: Class, Gender, and Look

At the beginning of the game, you choose the direction for your character by selecting what kind of character you are. You can set gender, adjust appearance, and pick one of three basic classes: Soldier, Scout, or Scoundrel. Each class comes with its own attributes, skills, and abilities that affect how you experience the game.

Soldier

A Soldier is built for direct combat. Expect high stats in strength and stamina, making it a great choice if you want to focus on close, physical fights.

Scout

The Scout is a flexible class that helps you balance combat with skills. It’s ideal if you like a more adaptable “mix-and-match” playstyle.

Scoundrel

The Scoundrel specializes in deception, theft, and using long-range weapons. Choose this class if you enjoy tactical choices and quick, precise play.

In Star Wars: KOTOR, Android players can explore the unique powers of the Force. You can learn more than 40 Force abilities, each with different effects and attributes. Use these powers to strengthen your offense, defense, and other supportive options. You can also unlock new powers and upgrade them to truly unleash what the Force can do.

You can even gain access to your own lightsaber, adding more excitement to the action-driven gameplay.

Visit classic locations in a brand-new era

Fans of the franchise will recognize many iconic places from Star Wars, but this time they’re explored during an earlier period of history. That means you’ll get a familiar universe while still discovering a fresh adventure.

Travel to places like Tatooine, the Wookiee Homeworld, Kashyyyk, and many other worlds. Each location offers its own events, surprises, and gameplay moments.

Play with different characters

Beyond the main hero, you can experience the gameplay with a variety of companions. Build your party with up to nine customizable Star Wars characters, including Twi’leks, Droids, and Wookiees. Each character brings distinct abilities and combat mechanics, helping you explore shifting story dynamics.

Galactic vehicles and starships

To keep travel exciting, players can use galactic vehicles and starships. Drive across the surface with classic space vehicles, then move between worlds using your own starship. This keeps the RPG action experience flowing across different types of gameplay.

Useful Tips

Like most RPGs, you earn Experience Points (XP) by adventuring. When you earn enough XP, you gain a level. However, KOTOR works a little differently from many other RPGs: you must manually level up your character.

• When a character has enough XP, an orange arrow appears over their portrait.
• To level up, open the Character Screen from the pause menu.
• You can choose auto level-up, but it’s recommended to handle leveling manually for each party member to keep full control over development.

XP is earned by defeating creatures and completing missions. Many missions can be finished in multiple ways, and harder approaches usually grant more XP. In general, playing “good” tends to reward more XP, while Dark Side choices may offer a bit less XP—but often come with greater satisfaction and fewer steps involved. The good news: every character gains XP as you play, even those you aren’t actively using.

Depending on your current level, your character may also receive an additional attribute point to distribute, along with further benefits to help shape your build.
