Hoosegow: Prison Survival is a story-driven survival adventure. You play as a prisoner who gathers information, makes tough decisions, and fights to stay alive inside prison walls. Throughout your sentence, you’ll talk with other inmates and get involved in different activities—each one pushing you closer to freedom or deeper trouble.

Your goal is simple: survive your sentence and build a reputation among the people around you. The choices you make will shape your route through prison, while you constantly collect clues, stock up on resources, and work to navigate the facility successfully.

Gameplay

Hoosegow presents you with many different situations. The problems you face must be investigated and handled by the player responsible—there’s no “automatic” solution. Rewards come from your own success, but even failure can teach you what to do next.

Every task you take on has complications to manage, and every conversation can reveal something important. Stay confident, because you’ll need to be ready for whatever comes next. Since your actions determine your path, you must choose what to do and when.

Beyond whatever rules the authorities set, prisons also follow their own strict restrictions. Every decision affects what happens later. Inside prison, your primary focus is your health, safety, and well-being. You’ll search for artifacts, repair problems, and negotiate deals—taking the precautions you need to keep yourself alive and work toward starting over.

To make it through Hoosegow, you must learn to adapt. Before committing to the “right” choice, you’ll need to understand how to handle tough situations. These moments can influence your chances of survival, so always review your options carefully.

When you finish assigned tasks, the game rewards you for your achievements. Don’t rely on others—you’re the only one who can solve the problem. One wrong decision can quickly make your situation far more dangerous.

Items, Trading, and Upgrades

In Hoosegow, you can buy a wide range of items. Each one is grouped by purpose, so collecting them helps you craft what you need—and then trade with other inmates.

There’s a way to earn money and secure your day-to-day survival. Use what you gain, whether it comes from prison breaks or from trades, based on your plans. You can improve key areas like housing, food, clothing, and transportation with bonuses and tools.

Game Modes

Classic

Play as a newcomer serving a two-year sentence. Settle in carefully and avoid drawing attention—don’t show off, and try to stay under the radar of both guards and hostile inmates. Stay alive, and cooperate with authorities so you can work toward getting out faster.

Career

If you want a longer, darker path, take on a “career” route where your goal is to become one of the most respected—and feared—prisoners. Make smart choices and climb step by step, since life sentences give you plenty of time to rise.

No Hope

For even more pressure, the No Hope mode challenges Hoosegow players with tougher conditions and stricter outcomes.
