Cats the Commander Introduction
Cats the Commander Cats the Commander is a casual strategy game where you recruit a powerful feline army, use cat skills, weapons, and magic, and defeat waves of enemies in quick battles.
Cats the Commander
Cats the Commander is a laid-back strategy game where you recruit a growing squad of cats to form a powerful feline army. Then you send them into battles against incoming waves of enemies. Each cat comes with its own abilities, and you can boost your roster with the right weapons and magic to gain an edge during fights.
The game is lightweight, and most matches wrap up in just a few minutes—ideal for a quick session during downtime.
How the game works
When you start a level, your commander appears alongside a Level 1 Cat POW. Your starting money is set to its current maximum. From there, you summon units to fight—each unit costs money, referred to as Cat Power, Cat POW, or CP.
You defeat enemies that arrive as waves across stages (stages group multiple waves together). After the earliest levels, most stages typically contain two to three stages.
Hearts, mission failure, and what you can do
- Your commander has 3 hearts.
- Each time an enemy lands a hit on your commander, you lose 1 heart.
- If you lose all hearts, the mission fails.

After a failure, you can choose to:
- Retry the level from your last position, using Cat POW at its maximum level for the cost of 10 gems.
- Use a recovery gem to restore all items and gold you earned in that quest.
- Request salvage (available for up to 180 minutes before it counts as a failed mission). While salvage is active, your team’s run is locked from use until someone rescues you or the timer ends.
You can share your salvage ID with other players to help them respond faster, and to speed up the recovery of your items and gold.
Battle control: Tension gear
Tension gear increases battle speed as you defeat enemies. You can pause it during combat to prevent it from draining.
- Maximum level: 7
- At level 7, it can no longer decrease.
- If you want to slow things down, tap it during battle to turn it off, then tap again to reactivate.

Bank
Your bank is a piggy-bank system that pays out
- Rank 2: 20k gold/hour
- Rank 60: 600k gold/hour
Key features
Build your perfect cat army
Recruit quirky cats and assemble a squad full of different personalities. Search for rare cats, swap them in and out, and experiment until you find the lineup that fits your style—or simply use your favorites.
Fast, easy battles
No long practice sessions required. Just tap, summon, and unleash special moves in quick matches. They’re simple enough for anyone to grasp, while still leaving room for smart tactics.
Strategic customization
As you progress, collect weapons and magic. Mix and match them with your cats to create different combinations—because legendary cats don’t have to follow just one formula.

A tower defense twist
Your cats don’t stop once the fight begins. The battle becomes a full-on push until one side wins. The action keeps moving, so you won’t spend time waiting around.
Endless variety (and more cats)
There’s always a new combo to try, a different team to build, or another legendary hero to uncover. The only real limit is how bold you want your strategy to be.
Player impressions
- One player says they’ve been playing for a couple of weeks and calls it “fun”, praising the unique mechanics, strategies, and the silly cats—though collecting everything will take effort.
- Another comment argues it shouldn’t be dismissed as a simple copy of Battle Cats, comparing it to how two sports cartoons can look similar while still being different. They highlight the weapon/badge mechanics as a standout feature and feel the game plays more like an adventure.
- A player mentions advantages they like over Battle Cats: less reliance on limited auto-battle resources, faster replaying of cleared stages, easier access to premium currency (gems), more variety in unit designs, and the ability to unlock U.S. units after enough gacha openings—something they say Battle Cats doesn’t offer.
- That same player notes the strategy may be less deep than Battle Cats, which could bore some players, and reports performance issues—freezing and slowdowns—especially when closing and reopening the app.
