osu! Introduction
osu! osu! is a free music rhythm game for Android featuring a massive song library. Tap, slide, and hold precisely to the beat, choose your mode, and chase top scores with visual hit cues.
osu! (Android) — Free Music Rhythm Game
osu! is a free music video rhythm game that puts you in the middle of fast, high-energy tracks and a huge music catalog. The goal is to stay perfectly in sync with each song so you can earn top scores and feel the rhythm-driven rush.
To play, you’ll tap, slide, and hold on the screen at the right moments. You can choose any game mode you like—each mode follows the same overall idea, but the charts and patterns vary. To score higher, you must perform inputs in the correct sequence and tap the exact elements that appear on screen.
Every featured theme song can include multiple difficulty options, from the most approachable levels all the way up to the hardest and most extreme challenges.

Gameplay
Inspired by rhythm titles like Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, O2Jam, and Elite Beat Agents, osu! is built around three core actions:
- Tapping the hit circles as they appear
- Following the path of a slider using the moving ball
- Spinning a circle inside a large button as quickly as possible

Your objective is straightforward: complete these mechanics to the beat of the music, while tracking note elements that guide you through timing and patterns—often with circles that shrink as you approach the correct moment.
On-screen guidance
The interface is designed to be easy to read during play. You’ll see clear visual cues, including numbers on the buttons that show the order in which you should tap. The game also displays key HUD elements such as:
- Health bar
- Total score
- Accuracy
- Timer
- Score multiplier
Game modes
There are four modes:
- osu! (also known as “osu!standard”)
- osu!taiko
- osu!catch
- osu!mania
osu! (osu!standard) is the classic mode with dynamic placements of the three main mechanics to test your reflexes.
osu!taiko is a rhythm variant based on Taiko no Tatsujin.
osu!catch shifts the gameplay: instead of hitting circles, you catch fruits timed to the music.
osu!mania follows the style of Beatmania, but you can customize the keys and the orientation of the playfield.
Features & Notes
- Older devices may crash more frequently because of high memory usage; stability should improve over time.
- App restart on multitask (temporary Android limitation).
- Performance and input latency are still Work In Progress (WIP), particularly on older devices.
- Use screen and UI scale in settings to better fit small screens or notches.
- If you find problems, report them via GitHub—and make sure to search first.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Four different game modes
- Large collection of downloadable songs
- Includes an in-game beatmap editor
- Allows you to customize difficulty levels

Cons
- No direct way to access the beatmap database
Conclusion
One of osu!’s most compelling strengths is how its community stays connected and how new song files are shared through the in-game library. Another major draw is the world ranking, which turns score chasing into friendly competition where you can measure yourself against players worldwide. Overall, osu! is among the most engaging rhythm games ever—and you can enjoy the official Android experience.
