Key Features

Not Enough Maps Yet

At the moment, there are eight maps. The game is still described as being in development, and more stages are expected later. Because of that, some character models and environments can feel rough—like the textures and visuals didn’t get as much polish as they probably should have. If you’re expecting highly detailed scenery, you may notice it’s fairly bare in places.

Play With Friends (It’s More Fun)

You can play solo, but the game shines when you fight with other people. Even though there is some skill involved, you don’t need perfect technique to get wins—sometimes button-mashing and luck can carry you. That actually makes group play even better, since it keeps the experience from feeling completely dominated by someone who’s played for hours.

Push, Pull, Stun, and Throw

Your goal is to push, pull, and beat up opponents until they’re stunned. Once an opponent is stunned, you can grab them and throw them into nearby dangers around the map.

Watch out, though—hazards can work both ways. The same chaos that helps skilled players throw enemies into danger can also get you killed. For example, it’s easy to stumble off a vehicle like a truck and land on the road if you’re not careful.

Still Not Fully Finished

The developers have stated the game is not complete, and they’ve released it on Steam to help fund further development. Expect bugs, and you may notice unfinished presentation in the visuals.

It’s an easy-to-learn local co-op action and fighting game, which makes it a solid option for groups—but given its unfinished state, it may not feel like it matches the price for everyone.

Physics-Driven Chaos (and Its Big Catch)

The physics are a big part of the fun. Many ideas feel fresh, like riding a giant wheel that flips you and your opponent upside down. You can also drop between areas, hoping you don’t fall to the ground, and sometimes a round flips at the last second when an opponent falls off the edge and you win.

However, that same physics system can make controls feel inconsistent—especially when you’re trying to land clean hits or execute accurate grabs.

Gang Beasts takes place in fictional Beef City, where you fight through the Meatropolis district. You control bouncy, anthropomorphic characters and battle it out with other gelatinous opponents in a no-holds-barred brawl.

Your main objective is simple: beat each other until someone gets knocked off. Use punches, kicks, headbutts, and grabs—whatever it takes to win.

Customization and Stages

You can customize your character with different colors and a range of costumes before jumping into the fight. The game also features multiple stages, each bringing its own vibe to matches.

Unlike more precise physics games, Gang Beasts uses physics that can be a little unpredictable. That means it’s hard to control how hard your punches land. Your next strike might overwhelm an opponent—or miss completely—so you can’t always predict outcomes.

In survival mode, you fight across 8 different maps, dealing with traps and dangerous devices. Your goal in each map is to be the last one standing by beating others down or reducing their health to zero.
