Cytoid Introduction
Cytoid Cytoid is an open-source rhythm game for Android featuring many music genres, community chart libraries, and a level editor. Train with official lessons, then compete worldwide on leaderboards.
Cytoid
Cytoid is an open-source rhythm game that spans many music styles and brings players together through a lively community. You can browse and download player-made charts to start your rhythm journey right away.
In play, Cytoid works much like other rhythm titles: you hit notes accurately as they reach the judgment line. Depending on the note type, you’ll use actions such as tapping, swiping, long-pressing, or dragging to earn higher scores. You can also test yourself against players worldwide on the leaderboards.
Newcomers aren’t left in the dark—Cytoid includes training levels. Finish them to receive official certification, then move on to tougher songs and charts.

Note Types in Cytoid
Tap Note
Tap when the colored inner circle is close to the outer ring.
Drag Notes
Slide along the path through the small circles. You don’t have to wait for the scanline, but dragging too far ahead can throw off your timing.
C-Drag Notes
This starts with a tap. Tap the head note, then drag along the line through the small circles.
Hold Note
Keep your finger on the circle before the scanline reaches it. Hold until the scanline exits the circle at the end of the hold. You don’t need to release it, and you don’t tap it like a click note—treat it more like a drag into the hold.
Long Hold Note
A hold-note variant where you typically maintain your touch across multiple “pages.” Check the pulsing ring around the circle to see how long you’ll need to hold.
Flick Note
A variation of click notes: tap and then slide away from it horizontally.

- “Pretty good game—just remember it feels different from Cytus.” The reviewer said practice mode is needed to replicate results after mastering a chart. They also suggested enabling the fast setting in mods if it feels too slow, and lowering graphics if you experience lag spikes.
- “Playable online and offline, but there’s one connection issue.” They said the game is strong overall and hope for more improvements. They reported that after failing to connect to the internet at the end of a song, they can’t return to the menu without restarting.
- “The tutorial and beginner levels helped a lot.” They mentioned it took time to adjust to the controls, and they can now play easy and advanced levels. They also felt the tile timing was slightly off, though they still called the game amazing.
