Muse Dash is a rhythm-based endless runner where you travel through a stage in time with the music, striking back against waves of enemies. The track is packed with obstacles, so you’ll need quick, accurate movement to dodge them, survive the pressure, and clear the song to earn rewards.

The game includes a full tutorial to help you get started, plus dozens of tracks across different styles. You’ll control a cute anime heroine as she fights her way through each performance. Difficulty also scales up: higher levels bring faster hazards and tougher monsters, making every run more intense. New content is added regularly—more songs and special events are coming, so keep an eye out.

Enemy Types in Muse Dash

Small Enemies

These are the most common foes. Tap a single button to knock them back. They’re color-coded to make them easier to read. In general, they only hurt you if you miss an input while they’re in your lane—so the pink (ground) ones are usually the bigger threat.

Big Enemies

Big Enemies work the same way as Small Enemies, except they’re larger. Some achievements also require you to knock back every Big Enemy perfectly. They have bigger hitboxes for “Perfect” timing, but it’s not as generous as it looks—aim toward the middle. For these enemies, rhythm matters more than visual timing.

Gemini Enemies

Gemini Enemies appear as connected yellow figures. To stop them, you must hit both inputs at the same time—if you only hit one, the other one will drop and can deal damage. Certain achievements may require hitting these perfectly throughout the track.

Ghosts

Ghosts show up and begin fading as they move about halfway from the left side of the screen. When you’re trying to hit them, they can be completely invisible—so timing is everything. The rhythm still cues you when to strike, though these enemies are sometimes used for unexpected notes. Learn their timing by observation and practice.

Barrier (Buzz Saws)

When the game says “barrier,” it’s referring to Buzz Saws. To avoid them, you need to be in the opposite lane. Blue saws spawn on the bottom and require you to jump above them, while pink saws spawn on top and require you to drop below.

• Pink saws appear only on difficulties 6+.
• They’re harder to dodge because of hang time, but you can force yourself downward by using a ground attack.
• Barriers only award a “Pass” rating instead of Perfect. This doesn’t mean your timing was wrong—Pass is the correct judgment for this obstacle.

Mash Enemies

These enemies aren’t clearly named in-game (at least not in what’s shown to me). You’ll recognize them by a bubble with an exclamation mark (!) as they rush in. To defeat them, you must rapidly mash/tap buttons. On console, it’s best to wiggle the sticks; on touchscreen, drum multiple fingers quickly. Every successful hit adds more score.

One hit won’t be enough to push them back—you’ll take damage if they connect. They can attack from any lane, and Rabot can’t convert a miss into a Great on them.

Bosses

Battles appear during the most intense moments of a song. Most songs include at least one boss, and some have multiple. Bosses are made up of sequences of other enemy types, but they may also charge at you with an unusual hitbox. You can hit them back using either high or low attacks, but missing will still deal damage.

Enemies spawned by bosses can give extra score if you use the Dragon Girl Elfin. Also watch for bosses that drop Barriers (saws)—they can appear much more suddenly than other saws.

Muse Dash offers many stages, ranging from easy to difficult. Early on, you’ll face the simplest enemies, with slower movement and attacks that aren’t too fast—this is your chance to build confidence and practice. If you can consistently defeat the weaker foes, you’ll be prepared for stronger challenges ahead. As the level rises, enemies become more dangerous and launch attacks back-to-back with little downtime. Stay focused, stay strong, and fight through.
