You’ll meet Noah, a mysterious woman who appears out of nowhere, and together you’ll explore the location and push deeper into the nightmare.

Story

1979 — The Asylum near Porter Lake

In November 1979, after the police lose contact with the New Vineyard Asylum, located near Porter Lake, Maine, officers arrive to find the bodies of patients and staff. They died under strange circumstances that appear to involve extreme brain hemorrhaging. No survivors were ever found, and the asylum was eventually abandoned.

1991 — Rose Hawkins and the trail of Eden

In 1991, Rose Hawkins, a detective from the Massachusetts Police Department Juvenile Division, is investigating a missing girl named Eden. Her search leads her back to the same asylum—only for an unknown attacker to shoot Rose and leave her bleeding out.

Rose awakens with no memory of what happened in the hours before. She discovers she has been transported to Nowhere, a surreal maze-like world built from red curtains, like the backstage area of a theater.

Following messages left on old reel-to-reel recorders, Rose is directed to a woman named Noah. Noah is found seated in a chair surrounded by mannequins. In exchange for information about Eden’s whereabouts, Noah asks Rose to help her locate Dorothy Simmons, a nurse who previously worked at the Asylum before her death.

Back in the Asylum — Dolls, evidence, and the “Sisters”

Using Noah’s access card, Rose returns to the Asylum—now filled with mannequins and porcelain dolls that move and attack. While searching, Rose uncovers evidence that the Asylum was funded by the Lewis Walker Foundation, which conducted parapsychological experiments on its patients.

She learns about the “Sisters”: six women born with psychic abilities as a result of a decades-old collective consciousness project. The Sisters vanished in 1979, and the project’s leader, Dr. Thomas Walton, was later removed from his position.

Eden, Shadows, and the truth about Dorothy

Rose briefly sees Eden in a stockroom, but the girl is frightened away. Eden leaves behind drawings of Shadows—dark, human-shaped entities that haunt the Asylum.

In the infirmary, Rose finds Dorothy’s body arranged in a ritual-like manner inside a pentagram. From there, Rose pieces together what happened: Dorothy and Noah—revealed to be one of the Six Sisters—conspired against Walton because they wanted freedom from the experiments.

Dorothy also had a personal reason for wanting Walton ruined. During a group psychic session, she managed to trick the doctor by disguising Noah as a nurse and swapping in an unknown patient. The result was disastrous—all six women bled to death.

After that, Dorothy convinced Audrey Millers (the head of security) to steal the key to Walton’s lab. Dorothy used the access to find proof that Walton had secretly disposed of the bodies, then reported it to the Foundation’s committee. To eliminate Dorothy, Walton manipulated Audrey—who was suffering from mild psychosis—into brutally stabbing the nurse to death with a scalpel.

The lab key and Dorothy’s soul

Rose later finds the key to Walton’s lab inside Dorothy’s locker. The key sends Rose back to Nowhere, where Dorothy’s consciousness is trapped between life and death, tormented by memories of the past.

Rose is guided to the mortuary. There, she must battle the nurse’s reanimated corpse until it collapses, freeing Dorothy’s soul. Dorothy thanks Rose and asks for forgiveness before fading away into dust.

The final twist

After returning to the Asylum, Noah greets Rose and promises that Rose won’t have to see the other woman again. Noah then steps into an elevator bound for Walton’s lab and smirks—revealing that Dorothy has taken Rose’s body.

Meanwhile, the real Rose remains trapped in Nowhere, left alone.
