Gungrave G.O.R.E
In Gungrave G.O.R.E, you step into the role of an unstoppable killing machine and push through an action-packed adventure across Southeast Asia. The fight mixes long-range gunplay with up-close melee, letting you rotate through a range of weapons with unlimited ammo while chaining stylish combat techniques to wipe out enemy after enemy.
The game includes a Story Mode, where you experience a dramatic tale of revenge and love—and learn how to land crushing finishing blows. Support for the title also continues through additional DLC gameplay, bringing fresh missions and more explosive action over time.
Gameplay
Shooting
- Each shot fires .4 bullets at your targets.
- The auto-target system focuses on the enemy (or destructible object) that is closest to your crosshair.
Shield
- The shield absorbs enemy attacks until its shield gauge is fully depleted.
- If you avoid damage for a while, the shield gauge will regenerate.
HP
- If you take hits while you have no shield, your HP is reduced.
- When HP reaches zero, it’s game over.
Beat Count
- Your Beat Count appears as a flaming number under the UI.
- It rises each time your attack successfully hits.
- The flames fade if you stop attacking.
- By chaining attacks, you can build a higher beat count, which increases your score after clearing a stage.
Art Score
- You can earn Art Scores by performing executions, demolition shots, and other skills unlocked from the lab (with the exception of Storm Barrage).
- After finishing a stage, your earned Art Score is shown on the rewards screen.

Navigation
- The navigation arrow indicates the direction to your next destination.

Lock On
- Lock On lets you target an enemy and fire only at that locked opponent.
- You can switch targets or unlock at any time.

Dodge
- Use Dodge to evade incoming enemy attacks.

Key Features
Stylish Combat Mechanics
Gungrave G.O.R.E blends third-person shooting with martial-arts-style melee. With the Cerberus pistols providing unlimited ammo, you can unleash rapid bursts of fire paired with brutal close-range combos. The smooth handoff between gunfire and melee makes every encounter look and feel fast, fluid, and stylish.

An Epic Story of Vengeance
The campaign runs for over 12 hours, weaving together themes of love, loyalty, and revenge. Expect emotional story beats and evolving character moments, supported by intense, high-stakes showdowns designed to keep the action meaningful.
Settings Inspired by Real Places
Your journey takes you across South-East Asia, built from recognizable real-world locations—but twisted with a dark, futuristic atmosphere. The environments aren’t just visual eye candy; they also help pull you into a world that feels both familiar and unsettlingly new.
Gory, Over-the-Top Visual Style
The game leans fully into a blood-soaked, exaggerated aesthetic that amplifies the punch of each fight. Enemies fall in dramatic, satisfying ways, making combat feel intense and impactful. Visually, it mixes Eastern and Western art influences to create a distinct atmosphere that holds your attention from the first moment to the last.
Useful Tips
- Orange enemies have high health, but you can grab them to use them as a great shield—or even secure an instant kill (just toss them after grabbing).
- Fury (both back triggers), Death Spear (charged shot), and reflected rockets can also break shields.
- Don’t waste time reflecting grenades—they’re thrown too often to keep you gaining momentum.
- Finishing armored and rocket enemies tends to pull you toward them, so avoid doing it if it ruins your positioning.
- Orgmen aren’t especially dangerous—kite them until they go down.
- Demolition Shots both heal you and grant invincibility frames, so feel free to use them when things get hectic.
- Sword enemies can be stalled indefinitely by shooting them. They’re also easy to eliminate using a rocket or a charged shot to knock them down, then just keep shooting. When they’re not reflecting bullets, you can also grab them.
- Leeches show up constantly in water.
- Some stages—especially Vietnam—have mines scattered around. Either shoot them or use a Death Blow to destroy them all.
- Enemies often spawn on top of houses or ledges, so keep your eyes up.
- Prioritize rocket enemies and shooter Orgmen first, then snipers and shotgunners, and only then move on to the rest.
Player Comments
- The game reportedly “runs like crap,” with voice acting that doesn’t impress and a story that feels unconventional—though many players still enjoy it as mindless fun. One reviewer also jokes that you basically “are Mick Mars” and spend the whole game shooting and killing.
- It’s often suggested to play in short bursts because the gameplay can feel repetitive after a while.
- Cutscenes are said to be short but entertaining to watch.
- Players mention lots of easy achievements, along with many upgrades and special abilities. Some also note you can refund points to experiment with new builds.
