Master the Jump Shot

The jump shot system has been adjusted in NBA 2K22. You may initially find it challenging to land more jump shots until you get comfortable with the updated timing and slider power. If you’re struggling, you can change the jump shot speed.

Suggested adjustment: If you’re having too much trouble, slow the jump shot speed to about 3/4 of the original pace.

How well you perform also depends on your experience and your character’s stats.

Defense During Transitions

Stopping opponents during fast breaks is critical—especially when your team is leaving the middle of the court open. When everyone crowds the center, it becomes easier for the other side to launch counters using space along the edges.

• Fill lanes based on where you started the play.
• Solid point guards should hold the middle and support transitions.
• Shooters should move toward the front of the attack and shift wider to create more room for shots.

Box Out the Opponents

If your team doesn’t have the ball, box out as early as possible. This limits what the opposing team can do and reduces the number of passing lanes available. The opponent then has to keep their position or risk making mistakes on offense.
