FAQs
How can I disable the shutter sound?
The shutter sound is enabled by default. To turn it off, open the app’s Settings, then check the General section for an option to mute all shutter sounds.

Keep in mind: this setting may not appear on some devices, since certain camera APIs may not yet support this control.
What do the white and orange circles mean in the preview?
The white circle shows the camera’s focus position. Footej uses autofocus by default. If your camera supports it, you can tap the preview to select a specific focus point.
The orange circle indicates the area used for exposure measurement. By default, the whole preview area is used for exposure.
When you use selective focus (moving the white circle), Footej measures exposure for the area inside the orange circle. You can also drag the orange circle to choose a different area for both focus and exposure measurement.
How do I manually control the camera (ISO and shutter speed)?
Footej offers manual ISO and shutter speed control when your device supports the Android Camera 2 API (version 2). The app checks your hardware automatically and enables the relevant controls.
Two yellow indicators will appear on the preview: one for ISO and one for shutter speed. By default, both use Auto values.
To switch to manual control:
- Go to Exposure settings
- Tap the manual exposure option (opens a three-dot menu)
- Use the Auto/Manual toggle at the top of the exposure adjustment bar
- When set to manual, you’ll see two extra adjustment bars—one for ISO and one for shutter speed
My built-in camera supports manual control, but Footej won’t enable it. Why?
In some cases, manufacturers haven’t implemented the required libraries for the Android 2.0 Camera API. Even if the hardware is compatible, Footej may not be able to use the necessary Android APIs.
Summary
Overall, Footej Camera is a strong camera and photo app and a solid alternative to the default Android camera. Even without unlocking the premium version, it still offers a wide range of useful features.
