Starward

Starward is a popular 3D fighting game where you command charming anime-style “Mecha Girls” to take on a variety of enemies. Along with classic ground combat, the game lets you fight in the air too—using different button inputs to open up extra options and more dynamic matchups.
You can collect your favorite girls through a gacha system. Each character comes with distinct skill designs and different skins. Skins don’t just change appearance—they also let you customize the look of attack effects, making your fights even more stylish on the battlefield.
The game also runs seasonal events on an ongoing basis. By participating, you can earn rewards such as skins, collaboration characters, and other prizes—keeping things fresh and exciting.

Characters
Akatsuki
Akatsuki is a high-COST character with a reputation for being extremely well-rounded. With a large toolkit at her disposal, she can cover many roles depending on how you use her. While not every tool is the absolute best in the roster, the sheer variety of useful options makes up for it.
Her kit includes things like a forward-advancing shooting guard, Gerobi, Boomerangs, a Freefall, and even a 5-frame melee button (among other tools). Because many of her options are broadly “solid,” she can adapt to different situations and matchups whether you’re playing shuffle or duo.
Neutral play is one of Akatsuki’s strengths. Her projectiles are dependable, letting her hold a stable game at multiple distances. She also has a wide set of cancels, so she can stay flexible rather than committing too hard.
Up close, her boomerangs (5AB) help discourage opponents who try to approach while also letting her reposition. If she feels confident, she can use movement tools like 4/6BC to engage back as needed.
Her main limitation is that she doesn’t naturally force intense pressure forward on her own. A number of her tools are better suited for reaction/defense in neutral and punishing the opponent’s mistakes. Her more aggressive options can be riskier in many situations, which tends to shape her into a “neutral enforcer” style—keeping the pace manageable for herself and her partner.
Like Cherub, Akatsuki can handle many matchups, but she may struggle against both hyper-aggressive melee bruisers and untouchable zoners. For that reason, your team composition and communication with your partner are especially important.
Akigumo
Akigumo is a melee specialist built around high damage output and strong oki—but with an unconventional twist: she doesn’t have any traditional projectile options. Her ranged presence is limited to her partner/stand, Shuramaru.
You can send Shuramaru out using 5AB or 4/6AB. It can help negate projectiles and linger briefly, creating opportunities to follow up with mobile attacks. One of her standout patterns is that Shuramaru can pop the opponent up on hit, giving Akigumo time to confirm into her reliable high-damage melee follow-ups such as 4/6BC.

Once Akigumo gets in, she has tools for a wide range of situations—including a strong unblockable pressure option like 2B.
