In Echoes of the Town, you follow Akemi’s climb toward stardom. But as her fame spreads, you’ll slowly uncover a darker truth: an evil organization known as SBD appears to be targeting her agency. Your job is to help Akemi juggle her career while also trying to stop the threat threatening the world around her.

The story is split into multiple branching routes. Each in-game day gives you up to twelve secondary actions or up to three primary actions, covering morning, afternoon, and night. Your choices open different plot developments and lead to different endings.

No matter which storyline you choose, the game also includes a variety of engaging animated scenes—adding extra intensity and drama to your journey.

Gameplay Overview

Time Management and Daily Structure

The core gameplay is all about timing. You must repay Akemi’s debt within a set period, with each day split into three parts: morning, afternoon, and night.

During each time block, you can take up to four minor actions—for example:

• talking to an NPC to receive a mission
• performing an erotic favor
• jumping into random combat

You can also choose a major action that uses up the entire time block—such as working a full shift, finishing a mission, or resting.

Because debt deadlines are strict, you’ll need to plan an efficient routine to hit the required payment totals. Your approach determines which ending you unlock.

Three Ways to Play

Here are three common play styles, each with different trade-offs:

1) “Work Only” Route (Simple, but Limited)

The most straightforward approach is to focus entirely on working shifts at McDonald’s. This earns work experience and helps you qualify for better-paying jobs. With this route, you’ll avoid sexual content, which feels out of place in an adult-focused game—but you will earn a “pure” ending and an achievement.

2) RPG-Style Combat and Missions

If you prefer classic RPG gameplay, choose a strategy centered on turn-based combat against random enemies, while completing missions to hunt down vagrants, criminals, and drug dealers.

This style emphasizes leveling up, gathering experience, improving your gear through purchases, and building a combat plan. Some sexual content appears here, but it isn’t the main focus.

3) Maximum “Corruption” Route (Most Content)

The third route is built around lowering the protagonist’s innocence until it reaches the minimum. As Akemi becomes more disillusioned, the game pushes her toward offering sexual favors for money. Once her innocence is gone and she’s fully corrupted, you can earn money through prostitution and unlock additional side missions tied to this theme.

This mode provides the largest amount of content and the most endings. You can also mix elements from the other two modes to create a more complete experience.

Masamaru

Raised by Akemi’s grandparents, Masamaru used to be shy and reserved. Over time, however, he transformed into a well-known exorcist. In town, his reputation is tied to his abilities—and he shares a close bond with Akemi.

Nanami

Nanami is an enigmatic newcomer who arrives with new troubles. She is friends with Masamaru and also has a past connected to Akemi’s grandparents.

The Mayor

Driven by greed, the Mayor is determined to squeeze money out of others. Since taking control of the town, it has slowly deteriorated into a place where thieves thrive.

NPCs respond directly to Akemi’s financial choices. If you ignore debt payments, businesses may distance themselves and withhold support. If you pay consistently, you’ll unlock more supportive conversations and even help from others. These interactions also reveal deeper subplots tied to where the debt truly came from.

Race Against Time

A countdown mechanic pushes you to earn money before weekly debt deadlines. If you fail to pay, you may face consequences such as property liens or tense encounters with debt collectors. The pressure increases with every in-game day.

Flexible Income Strategies

You can pursue different jobs, such as:

• farming seasonal crops
• foraging rare ingredients
• negotiating trade deals with eccentric villagers

Each job includes its own minigames—for instance, crop-rotation puzzles or bargaining challenges that test your persuasion.

Layered Resource Management

Debt isn’t the only thing you must manage. Akemi also needs to maintain her health, energy, and reputation. Upgrading tools can improve efficiency, while neglecting self-care can trigger penalties such as reduced mobility or unfavorable town rumors.

Town Customization and Progress Effects

As Akemi pays down debt, she can help restore neglected parts of the town. Reviving the community center can unlock new quests, while clearing polluted rivers may open up new fishing areas. These improvements are reflected visually—brighter surroundings and more active NPCs as progress is made.
