Learn and Master New Strategies
As your collecting grows, your deck-building strategy should evolve too. Use the game’s tutorials and resources to understand the mechanics—whether you’re a returning player or completely new. Learn strong card combinations and approaches to boost your deck’s performance in battles, and level up your skills as a Pokémon trainer.
Strategy Tips
Build Around One Main Card
If you want a deck built around a specific Pokémon—like Gengar or Marowak—focus your pack choices around that Pokémon’s line. For example, if you’re aiming for a Gengar deck, prioritize packs that include Gengar-related cards (such as Mewtwo packs, which feature Gengar, Haunter, and Gastly). Just collecting one Gastly won’t be enough to form a strong Gengar strategy.
Know When to Switch Your Focus

While it’s important to concentrate on certain packs, you should also be ready to change direction. You can only include up to two copies of the same card in a deck. So if you’ve already collected two Gengars, Haunters, and Gastlys, it may be time to move to another pack type.
Alternate artwork versions are fun to collect, but they don’t automatically make the card stronger than the standard version. Also, completing sets can unlock secret cards, so expanding your collection can pay off later.
Use Flair Points Smartly
Flair points can enhance the visual style of your cards, but they don’t increase battle power. To avoid missing gameplay value, save flair points for cards you already have at least five copies of—this way, you can still play the card effectively in your deck.
