Shrift 2 is a dark fantasy role-playing game made for adult players. It blends distinctive dungeon concepts with beautifully drawn 2D visuals, pulling you into a grim myth-filled world.

In Shrift 2, you step into the role of a young Church operative. Once devoted to faith, you now fight demons in order to push back the darkness. Your job is to survive the many dangers of this unstable world and work toward the outcome you want most—your own “rescue ending.”

You’ll face demons directly through combat, negotiation, or by building connections that help you weaken and subdue all kinds of monsters. In this fallen world, guide him toward the “rescue ending” he’s searching for.

There is no “happy ending” here.

More than 10 years before the events of “SHRIFT”… a world begins to treat myths as both real and false—because demons have appeared.

To stop the chaos from spreading, the world’s religious sects unite under a single organization: the Church.

This time, the main character is a young man belonging to it. He searches for an “end” that he truly believes is happy—among the many “rescues” that await him, or are offered by others.

No matter how hard he struggles, the story denies a conventional happy ending—so find his rescue ending.

Gameplay

Turn-by-turn demon battles in SHRIFT II feel close to SHRIFT, but the systems have been reshaped.

Your core resources are now:

• Faith (your HP)
• Will (your stamina)
• Lust (…Lust)

Combat centers on carefully managing these three. If you fail with spells or related actions, things can go wrong in different ways.

Prayer as the main weapon

As a priest, Richard relies primarily on prayer. Demons are repelled by Faith, so—unlike the first game—normal weapons are less important, and running out of ammo isn’t a concern. You can still use weapons, but their biggest value is what they provide: special attacks and stat boosts from attached items.

Two major differences from SHRI FT

• Dungeon crawling: Instead of just a small set of demon fights, SHRIFT II introduces dungeons packed with wandering spirits—smaller enemies you can grind in typical RPG-style battles to gain experience.
• Partnering with demons: Every demon Richard defeats becomes bound to him. He can then call one of his bound demons to join him as a partner, letting him use some of that demon’s abilities.
• Levels feed the demons: Level-ups make Richard stronger, but their main purpose is also to provide fuel for demons. Richard can feed gained levels to demons to earn Soul Points, which can be used to enforce effects on him or his allies.

Level growth slows significantly after level 30, and stat gains follow the same pattern.
