Splendor Introduction
Splendor Splendor is a Renaissance strategy game where you manage gems and development cards to earn prestige. Play solo or online multiplayer, use smart engine-building tactics, and compete for victory.
Splendor
Splendor is a strategy game inspired by the Renaissance era. You play as a wealthy merchant, collecting rare gems and hiring exceptional artisans to craft beautiful jewels. As your collection grows, you attract customers and build serious wealth and reputation.
The game includes a complete tutorial designed to get you comfortable with the rules quickly. You can jump into a match whenever you want, with both single-player and online multiplayer available. Use your planning and instincts to outsmart your opponents and secure the win.
The app is also planned to receive additional DLC and gameplay improvements to make the experience even smoother.
Gameplay Overview
Splendor is an engine-building and resource management game for 2 to 4 players. Players compete to collect the most prestige points.
Game Components
- 40 gem tokens: seven each of emerald, sapphire, ruby, diamond, and onyx, plus five gold tokens (wild). Tokens are shown as poker-style chips.
- 90 development cards
- 10 noble tiles
Development Card Levels
Each development card belongs to one of three purchase tiers: •, ••, or •••. These symbols indicate how difficult the card is to buy.
Every development card also provides a gem bonus (emerald, sapphire, ruby, diamond, or onyx). This bonus can be used later when buying new development cards.
Setup
- Before the game starts, deal n + 1 noble tiles face up in the center (where n is the number of players).
- From each level (•, ••, •••), deal four cards face up so everyone can see them.
- Keep the remaining cards in separate decks according to their difficulty level.
Turn Rules
On your turn, you must take exactly one action from the options below:
- Take up to three gem tokens of different colors from the pool.
- Take two gem tokens of the same color from the pool, as long as at least four tokens of that color are available before your turn.
- Take one gold token and reserve one development card, provided you currently hold fewer than three reserved cards.
- Purchase a development card from the face-up options or from your reserved cards. You must spend the required gem tokens and/or apply gem bonuses from cards you’ve already bought. Any gems you spend return to the pool.
Noble Visits (After Your Action)

- If your development card gem bonuses let you qualify for Noble prestige points, you are visited by that Noble and you take the matching tile.
- Each player can be visited by only one Noble per turn. If multiple Nobles are eligible, you choose which one you take.
- You keep the Noble tile until the end of the game.
- Noble tiles are not replenished after being taken.
- If you have more than 10 gems after the action, return gems until you have 10 or fewer.

Replenishing Card Slots
- When you buy a development card, refill that slot from the deck of the same tier.
- If that tier’s deck is empty, the slot stays empty.

End of the Game
As soon as a player reaches 15 prestige points, play continues until everyone has taken the same number of turns for the round. Once that condition is met, the game ends.
Scoring
At the end, the winner is the player with the most prestige points. If tied:
- The player who purchased the fewest development cards wins.
- If still tied, the player with the fewest reserved cards wins.
- If none of the above breaks the tie, the players share the victory.
Key Features
- Quick to learn, yet difficult to fully master.
- High-quality visuals and cards that match the original game.
- “Renaissance” themed graphical and musical atmosphere.
- Solo mode, pass & play, and online multiplayer for 2 to 4 players.
- A special scenario-based mode called “Challenges”.
- Challenge stories grounded in real history, spanning the 15th to 16th centuries.
- Multiple AI opponents that differ by strategy behavior, not just difficulty level.
- A 3-minute interactive tutorial that teaches both the game and the digital interface step by step.
- Worldwide leaderboards and a rank system available through a Days of Wonder account.
- Two expansions: The Cities (explore major European cities) and The Strongholds (fine-tune strategies and counter opponents). Both can be purchased in the game store.

Helpful Tips
Reserve with Intention
Reserving cards is one of your strongest tools in Splendor, but it’s easy to reserve at the wrong time or for the wrong purpose. Reserving a card gives you a gold wild token, which can be extremely useful. Still, try to reserve cards that fit your plan—and that you believe opponents might grab if you don’t.
Pay extra attention to cards that multiple players may be chasing, especially when those cards match visible gem bonuses other players are collecting.
Keep an Eye on Opponents’ Setups
Watch what other players are building. Track which gem colors they’re collecting and which bonuses they’ve already secured. That knowledge helps you decide when to compete for the same resources—and when to disrupt their momentum.
