Sonic Time Twisted Introduction

Sonic Time Twisted Sonic Time Twisted is a fast parkour adventure on Android. Play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, travel Past and Future via time portals, use elemental shields, and collect Time Stones and Chaos Emeralds to defeat Metal Sonic.

Sonic Time Twisted

Sonic Time Twisted is an eagerly awaited Sonic parkour adventure. Take control of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and more as you run, leap, and slide through eight zones. Along the way, you’ll use six elemental shields and smart movement to power through traps and obstacles, while chasing valuable rewards.

As you progress, the challenges ramp up in difficulty. Master the gameplay, prove your skills, and earn likes from other players.

How Gameplay Works

Sonic Time Twisted

The controls and moment-to-moment feel are modeled after the classic Genesis-style Sonic games. Similar to Sonic the Hedgehog CD, you’ll use time poles (updated so travel happens instantly) to move between two time zones: Past and Future.

In the Past, Sonic must search for Special Stages and collect Time Stones. In the Future, Special Stages are still required—but this time they contain the Chaos Emeralds.

  • 14 Special Stages total7 in each time zone.
  • Completing all Special Stages grants the True Ending.

Beyond Special Stages, you’ll push through the main story route across 8 zones (most zones have 2 acts). Each act ends at the Goal Post, followed by a boss fight—either Metal Sonic or one of several loyal Super Badniks.

Story Overview

Set in an alternate timeline, Sonic Time Twisted picks up after the Death Egg is destroyed and Dr. Robotnik is gone. From Little Planet, Metal Sonic returns with a plan to resurrect his creator using ancient alien technology. He takes command of the Badniks to keep Sonic and friends from stopping him.

Can Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles collect the Chaos Emeralds and Time Stones in time to stop Metal Sonic?

  • Raging Ruins Zone: Ancient ruins from past civilizations. In the Past, explore them in full; in the Future, they sit as a backdrop to a thriving city.
  • Viridian Valley Zone: A lush green-style area—featuring a marina in the Future and a prehistoric jungle in the Past.
  • Tidal Tubes Zone: A water-themed stage full of pipes. Race past futuristic buildings in the Future, or raid pirate ships in the Past. Inspired by the canceled stage Perplex Puzzle and Sonic Zero’s Tidal Tubes.
  • Frigid Fortress Zone: An icy castle in the Past and a toxic frozen wasteland in the Future. Warp through Future bonus-stage orbs with Sonic and Knuckles, or explore the Past castle.

Player Comments

  • “Amazing…” The game feels packed with care and inspiration from Sonic CD. The stages, ideas, mechanics, and story connections are especially noticeable. The player also praises the handmade feel of the sprites (as far as they can tell) and says it’s hard to believe it’s still in development.
  • The same commenter loves the idea of collecting Chaos Emeralds and Time Stones, but calls out the way they’re obtained as their main complaint. They also criticize the races as difficult early on, getting harder quickly, with controls they find tricky on a touchpad and not enjoyable with motion controls.
  • Another point they like: Special Stages allow retries at the cost of a life, which they believe helps balance difficulty. They also enjoy racing against Metal rather than doing only basic collection or destruction objectives.
  • “Classic sonic gets it…” One reviewer says the team clearly understands classic Sonic. Even if the first attempt isn’t as polished as Triple Trouble (16-bit), they call it a notable classic Sonic achievement. They praise level texture through stage gimmicks and unusual layouts, and say every level stands out and takes some thought to clear.
  • That reviewer notes the levels may be “piss easy,” but still finds them engaging—encouraging replay instead of blending together. They mention missing a time-trial mode.
  • A final comment compares it to other classic Sonic fan projects and says that while the level design and bosses aren’t always “good” and can feel frustrating, they’d still rather play this than Advance 3. (The comment is cut off mid-sentence in the original text.)
