Strategies for Earn to Die 3

1) Choose healing options whenever possible

At the start of a 30-room run, you’re offered 3 random items. You pick one to gain power against zombies right away. Later, after clearing most rooms, you’ll be offered another set of three items—this time you can see all three before choosing, so you can pick smarter based on your plan.

Many healing-focused items can include things like Golden Apples, Fungi, and Fresh Water. Since intense battles affect your character’s overall health and you often can’t simply respawn, prioritize healing items to stay in the fight.

2) Get maximum value from item objectives

Even after clearing a room, some items and objectives can still benefit you. For instance:

• If you have items like Fungi, collect the remaining fungi in the room to restore health.
• A Blood Bag restores health when you walk over dead zombies. So if bodies are left on the ground after a clear, consider stepping on them to recover.

3) Take the attacking boost in the fifth room (and similar rooms)

The 5th, 15th, and 25th rooms don’t feature zombies. Instead, you’ll choose from options such as health boosts or attacking boosts.

If you already picked health-related power-ups (for example, something like a Golden Apple that boosts health after each room), it’s often a good idea to select attacking boosts in these rooms. Attacking boosts may increase attack speed, attack damage, or critical hit chances.

However, if your health is very low—and you’ve already had to use a respawn once—choose the health boost instead.

4) Upgrade items using duplicates

Sometimes after clearing a room, you may be offered an item you already have. Picking it again is usually a smart move because it levels up that item.

• For example, acquiring Fungi multiple times can make fungi appear more often in later rooms.
• Items like kinetic junk can increase how much junk orbits Greyson, which can raise the frequency of damage to enemies.
